NE, winners of 9 straight. NYG losers of 6 straight. NE sitting in the AFC #1 seed. NYG the only team eliminated from the postseason. The only one!
ATS, L 6 games
NE: W W L W L L. 3-3
NYG: W L L W W W. 4-2
Looking at the stats, NE clearly better on defense. But offensively, NE is 10 yds/gm better.
Game is in NE. Line opened at 3, its now 7.5. A NE win wouldn't be shocking. But after Cin @ Bal, NY staying within a td wouldn't be that big a surprise. NE could be looking ahead to next 2, vs Buf and @ Balt. Also NE could begin to closely monitor injuries for stretch run. Offense in pretty good shapr, defense has more to worry about. (injury wise)
This game just struck me as a microcosm of this year. What looks like a blow out, just might surprise.
One more tidbit. I like Hou this week. Winners of 3 straight, against an indy team looking vulnerable. More important, Ian Rapoport reported Daniel Jones is playing with a fractured fibula. (the smaller bone in the lower leg). Obviously its a non-displaced break. But these injuries hurt like hell and can take 6-8 weeks to heal. Watching him practice, hes obviously favoring the leg. Just short of a limp. Richardson is on IR, so his back up is Riley Leonard, who has thrown 2 passes this year.
I'm also watching todays injury update for Minn and TB. Baker left last weeks game at half, with an AC sprain of his shoulder, his bu is teddy bridgewater. But JJ McCarthy, concussion, is backed up by Max Brosmer, he of 8 total passes this year. Minnesota is 1-5 su and ats in their L 6.
My guess Baker toughs it out vs a weak Arz team, but Minn is playing in Sea. And JJ hasn't impressed as a warrior, unlike Baker Mayfield. So look for JJ's participation or not, in todays practice.
