New York Times Finally Admits It Spiked Obama/ACORN Corruption Story

By Matthew Vadum on 5.18.09 @ 1:50AM
Acknowledging what the blogosphere has known for weeks, the New York Times finally went on record to admit that just before last Election Day it killed a politically sensitive news story involving corruption allegations that might have made the Obama campaign look bad.
But the admission on Sunday, which came seven months after NYT staff reporter Stephanie Strom's reporting about possibly illegal coordination between the Obama campaign and ACORN last year, took the form of a snarky column from Clark Hoyt, the Old Gray Lady's "public editor." Hoyt used the word "nonsense" to describe the allegations of impropriety leveled against ACORN and the Obama campaign.
Hoyt writes in the Sunday New York Times:

Reminds me of when the LA Times published a piece about Arnold just before the election where there were rumors that he was sexist against women. It backfired on them and he was elected any way.

I'm glad people are finally seeing these piece-of-shit publications for the crap they really are and are seeking out alternatives on the Internet.

Die NY Times die!

Die LA Times die!

If there was something I could legally do to bankrupt them, I would...

When I see that stack of washington post papers in the morning, I feel like just dumping them all in the trash.

There's two ways to have the Tallest Building in town.

One way is to try and tear all the other buildings down.

It's a mix plenty right wing influence in the media.

I wish I could get news with out them trying to entertain or sell advertising.

There's certainly a share on both sides, but I would say that the left still controls more than the right does.

I would say that most newspapers and magazines are slanted to the left while radio for the most part is dominated by the right.

Fox is slanted right, and all others are slanted left. There isn't any right wing influence on stations not named Fox.

That's the problem...why should station give opinions, recite the news then say nothing more.

We need the media to go Joe Friday and say "Just the Facts"

Let people determine what they think about it.

But of course my brethren in the PR community would cringe if they heard me say that.

John Edwards has an affair, there is real evidence out there, it's a current affair and he even fathered his girlfriend's baby as he was running for President and his wife is fighting for her life. NYT? silent

Somebody said John McCain may have had an inappropriate relationship with lobbyist over 10 years ago but doesn't provide 1 single shred of evidence, PAGE ONE lead story based on somebody's hunch.

This week, another one of their highly respected looney liberals gets caught plagiarizing, and then offers some lame excuse as to why she did.

What is it with looney libs and plagiarism anyhow?

I have no respect for them at all. Zero objectivity in the news is one of the major problems in this country. If they were objective and honest, we would have honest debates on policy in Washington. But since they are liberal cheerleaders, they enable disingenuous debate. One party says anything they want whenever they want because they know their bullshit will be presented without dispute, the other side has to play political correctness all the time because they know they can't afford to have one small soundbite that could be taken out of context.
