Isle's have a goaltender with a lifetime contract and just signed 2 starters in the off season and ain't a single one of them worth a shit. I think they were better off with Joey McDonald.

their location dont help either, no big name free agent will ever come there. i drive by the Nassau coliseum every single day, i don't blame anyone for not wanting to play there.

On Long Island?

I've only been there once but isn't NY a prime place to play?

Uniondale, NY (on Long Island) is about 40 minutes east of NYC. Not much going on here other than typical suburbia (with 2.5million populaton +), with the exception of ocean beaches perhaps.

However, the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum has been voted as the worst arena in the NHL by the players for several years.

Potvin is perhaps my least favorite Islander of all-time.

I'll give one guess as to who my favorite was/is.....

Not sure but are his initials AY? :)

Nope...but that is pretty funny now that I think of that high priced POS.

Originally from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

Isles retired his number on December 7, 1996 (the same day I had to go to a friend's wedding and miss the banner raising).

i hate to say it artie, even if they get that whole light house thing off the ground, i think its to late for them. they need to level that arena and start fresh.

NY is a great place for the rangers to. they are in the city. The islanders on Long Island have nothing around their arena and it does not have the best neighborhoods around. Its actually kind of sad, I feel like the rangers/islander rivalry is dead. I really wish the isles were good again.

Surrounded by Hempstead and Roosevelt...two of the finer towns on the Island (if you are into crime and gang violence).

The Lighthouse project is like putting lipstick on a pig. Last I heard, they are thinking of possibly moving it next to Citi Field. That would attract some people from NYC (I think).
