I'm an alum and as big of a Nebraska fan as there is, but I'm very, very, scared of this game and have been since before the season. They have had this game circled since we hung 73 on them last year. To add to this, read this article:
Several Kansas State players and coaches remain disgruntled with the nature of Nebraska's 73-31 victory last year of the Wildcats.
K-State coach Ron Prince described the Huskers' 73-31 victory in Lincoln as "one of our darker moments." NU scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, the last by starting I-back Marlon Lucky with four minutes left as Nebraska led by 38 points.
Quarterback Joe Ganz threw for 510 yards and seven touchdowns, both Nebraska records on 30-of-40 passing in former coach Bill Callahan's final victory.
"I don't think anybody's not had lingering feelings over that game," K-State defensive end Ian Campbell said. "Plus, I mean, it's Nebraska. If you're a K-State fan, the Nebraska game is a big game.
"You don't want to get beat like that by a rival or anybody. It sat with a lot of people, fans and players included."
Prince, who was fired last week but will coach Kansas State Saturday against Nebraska and next week against Iowa State, said he's addressed last year's game with the Wildcats.
"We've talked about it quite a bit," Prince said. "Last year's game doesn't have any impact on the outcome of this game, but just from a preparation standpoint of understanding what the game is all about and what we're attempting to do in the game, it's important for them to understand the atmosphere surrounding the game."
Senior linebacker Reggie Walker said the 42-point loss was "one of the most embarrassing games I've ever played."
But Walker holds nothing against Nebraska.
"We didn't stop them," he said.
It was something of an odd scene today in Manhattan. Prince, the third-year coach, met with the news media as if nothing out of the ordinary happened last week. He talked for nearly 10 minutes, in fact, before mentioning a word about his lame-duck status.
...............
K-State will be ready for us and they will be up for this game. I don't disagree, their defense is horrendous, but I'd be very cautious laying more than 1-2 units on this game.
Just my two cents.
