Thoughts on this game Friday? Kind of has the feeling of a big east trap game like Louisville was tonight, but Nova has really impressed me and getting 4 with a team that's 7-3 on the road seems attractive.

Interesting matchup here, I don't really see it as a trap game for nova, they will play hard, I think Nova is def the better team but not by much and West Virginia is home ..........Tough game to pick IMO.........Teams match up very evenly statiscally as well, ...

Nova is the has a more balanced team and has better guards that is for sure and if Butler doesn't play well West Virginia is going to struggle, but At home West Virginia is probably the play, I would just hate to go against Nova here, I am probably going to stay away...

Some Notes

Nova goes about 8 deep and they can stay fresh, They are looking pretty good of late with some nice wins and have been impressive on the road this season as well (wins at rhode Island by 13, at prov by 3, at South Florida by 9, lost to Uconn by 6 and Marquette by 7) , they were recently just up by 20 at providence b4 barely holding on for the win...............Nova hasn't won in WV since 1999 so you know they will be focused for this one..........WV has lost 4 of last 5 but are 9-2 at home this season......Only losses at home were against Pitt by 12 and Uconn by 6, They beat South Florida by 3, St. John's by 12 and Smoked providence by 25+ at home that was their most recent win, they then went on the road and lost to pitt again..........

Reynolds
Fischer
Stokes
Redding
Cunningham

over

Butler
Ruoff
Byrant
Ebanks
Smith

To me WV is kinda Notre Dame they rely on two players , the rest of the team is Ok IMO........We saw Notre Dame get Great Contribution last night from Ayers and Jackson but IMO ND was alot more hungry then what WV is gonna be.....

Reynolds has been real hot of late and so has Cunningham they are a good tandem, add in Stokes, Fischer and Redding and then Anderson coming off the bench this team is the better squad.

The factor here is the road, but I think Nova can keep it close, I would lean Nova +4..............They are confident right now, not over-confident they still have alot to prove and are the better team. WV does need this game tho and they are home so expect a solid game from them, I just think that it may come down to the end and I will take the points...............

Don't sell the Mountaineers short in a much needed game on their HOME floor.Huggins will have them running through walls and jumping into houses of fire to grab this one. Also line opened @3 now 4-. Wise guys on WV. GL:103631605

Not sure how this matchup scenario is faring this year, but I know last year it had a great record. An unranked home team giving points to a ranked road favorite. This fits that spot.

NOVA
after allowing 80+ 3-1 ats
playing winning teams (min 15 games) 7-0 ats
teams w/ good D (allow less than 64) 4-0 ats

WV
after scoring less than 60 0-4 ats
playing winning teams (min 15 games) 4-4 ats
teams w/ good Offense (score 77 or more) 1-4 ats

I dunno if this helps or not... line looks way too fishy
also NOVA is 8-3 ats in confernce
WV is 5-6.

FWIW my lean is nova with the points... (teeny tiny)

Good luck

I am liking Nova, but am scared by the fact that wvu needs this game worse than nova, similar to ND last night vs louisville. Will still end up taking nova though. The stat I threw out there points to wvu. Does anyone know how that stat is faring this year?

I'm going with WVU in the first half -2. They are a great first half team and Huggins has called out the fans saying they haven't given them any support at home this year. It is a must win for WVU game as they can’t fall behind in the Big East anymore. I think the stadium will be packed and they will come out firing in the first half.

and getting 4 with a team that's 7-3 on the road seems attractive.

Villanova is not a great away team (last 5 games away):
- Won by only 3 @ Providence
- Squeaked by at the end @ South Florida
- Lost @ UConn
- Won in overtime @ Seton Hall
- Lost @ Marquette

I am not saying West Virginia is as good as UConn and Marquette, but they are better than Seton Hall, South Florida & Providence.
West Virginia at home just creamed Providence (which Villanova barely beat them).

I like the +4.5 points that Villanova is getting, but I can also see WVU needing this game and could easily win by DD, just like ND did last night.

It's stupid to bet a game that is this close, 50-50, when you have 100 more games tomorrow. :toast:

I like NOVA for several reasons...WAY better gaurd play, better shooting percentage, due for a win at WVU (havent won there since 99), Jay Wright is a better game day coach then Huggins, Nova beat Pitt by 10 and WVU lost to Pitt by 11 - thats a 21 pt difference. AND NOVA IS GETTING 5!!?? Please. Take the Cats, they are one of the hottest teams in the country!!!
