Notre Dame limited Golson's transfer options today. He can't transfer to any team that ND plays this year. That includes Texas. The SEC also has a rule against bringing in any player with just one year of eligibility. Apparently South Carolina and Georgia might apply for an exemption, but it's doubtful it would be accepted.

I don't get why Golson is transferring in the first place. He was odds on to be starting for the Irish going into the season. I know he has some NFL aspirations, but if he's afraid of a little competition from Zaire, he's not going to make it in the NFL where the competition will be much greater. Now he's going to have to go somewhere where he'll be competing against other school's QB's that are already familiar with the other team's system. I was actually pretty surprised by this move. It makes me wonder if there was something more going on there between Kelly & Golson that didn't make the papers. But warts and all he still lead ND to it's last undefeated season. Zaire might work out for them. He is the better athlete of the two. But Golson was ND's insurance policy.

Why didn't this dumbass leave in December/January so he could have a spring practice at his new school?

Golson is a coward, plain and simple. He is also a turnover machine. The only teams that want him must be desperate for a QB. Texas certainly would be one of those teams, but he cannot play there now.

My bet is Kelly tried his best to convince him to stay. And once Golson got to the spring practices he saw the writing on the wall. At best he was going to split the reps with Zaire. And with NFL aspirations didn't want to go that route for his senior season. Golson still should have been more decisive..

FSU deserves him.
Actually, I think FSU would be a better fit for him than ND. He'll have better skill players around him and will be looking to prove that in the right system he's not the turnover machine that he was two years ago. Only getting out there and playing will tell. I'm not saying one way or another if he can make it. But after watching Trevor Boykin of TCU go from a turnover machine who couldn't complete a forward pass if his life depended on it, to what he is today in the right system, I never say never anymore. I saw Golson in person when ND played OU in Norman. He's not as bad as what people are saying about him. I've never really liked the system that ND uses anyway. And they could be a little more creative in their playcalling. I think this season they will most likely be a 50/50 type of offense because of their strong OL and a couple of big RB's. Plus Zaire will fit that kind of offense pretty well. I still think ND will be a little bit underrated this season, as long as they can stay healthy through a very tough schedule...

It looks like Florida State will be his new home. He does not have what it takes to be a good QB upstairs. Systems be damned. You are either a good QB or you are not, and he is not.
