I may take the day off Sunday as I see some plays but nothing that I’d risk for a heavy play. I might just place a couple of fun bets on Edmonton and Pittsburgh but nothing official.
However I mentioned this a couple days ago and it deserves repeating. I highly recommend taking Tampa Bay to win the Eastern Conference at Olympic. Their odds are still at +550 and after tonight’s action this bet has some great value in that of the remaining 14 games for the Lightning 9 of them are games they should win. They play Carolina twice, Islanders twice, and games against the Rangers, Sabres, Capitals, Panthers, and Thrashers. Nine of their games are at home and five on the road. Their only tests remaining are at Detroit, at Boston, at Toronto and home against the Devils and the Senators.
The standings as of Saturday :
.................GP.....PTS
Tampa Bay ……68.……90
Philadelphia……70.……88
Ottawa…………68.……86
Toronto………..69.……86
Boston…………69.……85
Philly has two less games than Tampa Bay and at this point number of games remaining is the most valuable commodity a team could own. Also of their remaining 12 games six of them are difficult. Two vs. NJ, Dallas, Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa.
Ottawa has 14 games remaining but 11 of them are on the road where they have played .500 all year. And they do not look very good at present.
Toronto I feel are the strongest contenders to Tampa Bay but the Leafs are only strong providing Belfour keeps playing with his ailing back and it was reported that he hasn’t been attending the practices in an attempt to rest as much as possible which to me say’s his health is tentative at best. In Toronto’s last 13 games they play 7 difficult opponents. Two against Ottawa and Boston each. One against Tampa Bay, Colorado, and Montreal.
Boston has one less game to play than the Lightning and stand 5 points behind. And they still play two games vs. Toronto and two vs. NJ. Singles against TB, Ottawa, and Montreal.
In review, the Lightning by far have the easiest schedule, the most games, most at home, and lead the conference by at least two points on everyone. So why are they a +550 dog?
Take this bet. It is my NHL play of the year.
NHL single unit plays………76-53-7.…..+ 22.92
Unit and a half plays………..13-2-1.…… + 16.695
NHL total to Date…………...89-55-8.……+ 39.615
