Didn't see any of the Duke game but I did see where they were up 24 at the half. I really thought they would have the kind of team that would just crunch this season. Of course they only hit 3 three pointer for 25% and had a bunch of turnovers. Hats off to the opponent for not packing it in and actually almost won the second half. Congrats to Rail for his 1st half play on Duke.
NE -6 vs IUPUI (2)
IUPUI (26-7) last year and coming off a school record in W's. Gone is the heart and soul in George Hill as he jumped ship and went to the NBA as a first rounder. Very tough player to replace. The Jags will be better than most people think as they return 3 very good players and have 2 new players who will help this team over come the loss of Hill.
They return Senior guard Gary Patterson who averaged 12.9 ppg last year. He also shot a school record 91.4 % from the line and hit 93 three pointers. By the way IUPUI led the nation in 3 point shooting at 42.3 last season. JR. forward Jon Avery shot 63.1 % from the field. (not to shabby there) The 2 newcomers will contribute immediately to the program. Robert Glenn a two year player at Wabash Jr. College averaged 19.3 ppg.
Alex Young a freshman out of Indianapolis 18.6 and 13.7 rebs a game as a HS senior. Coach says he will be the next Hill with the potential to be even better. I look for this team to finish somewhere in the top 3 of their conference.
NE finished (14-17) last year and in the middle of the pack in conf play. What a tough schedule they played last year. They played teams like Illinois, Maryland, UCONN, Boston College, Cuse, and then in their own conf they had to contend with George Mason, VCU, Old D, definitely tested severely. And you know what? They return 4 starters and 11 letterman this season.
Their starting guards are big and tough. Janny is 6'4 and scored at 16.4 ppg and 3.4 rebs a game. His sidekick Allen also at 6'4, scores at 9.1 ppg and 4.9 rebs a game. They both blocked a lot of shots and intimidated many more of their course.
They are also very big up front as the other two retuning starters are 6'9 and 6'8. Ojougboh averaged 10.3 ppg and 6.6 rebs, while adding 29 blocked shots, while Adako averaged 10.6 ppg and 4.6 rebs.
Maybe I go down again but my hard earned cash in down on NE for this one.
Good luck
