North Texas seems to be starting the year the same way they did last year with one big difference.
Last year they got whipped 65-0 in Texas, lost to FAU at home, 52-21 at Colorado and 14-37 at Baylor. Then they ran the table in the Sunbelt.
This year they have given up 108 points in two games while only scoring 9. The big diff is they have already beaten the preseason pick for the Sunbelt, Middle Tenn on the road. The fact that they were outplayed in the game and still won is a big positive not a negative.
This year they have returned the second fewest starters in the sunbelt. Guess who has the fewest? Begins with a T.
Troy hasn't been close in three out of its four first games. Its lone win came against Cal Poly.
North Texas OL vs Troy DL is no contest. This will be by far the weakest defensive front North Texas has had to face. North Texas could exceed their offensive output the last two games combined. They could exceed their season high total of 14.
I don't think Troy can keep up. They simply lost too much on both of their lines to duplicate last years success.
I understand there are some very competent handicappers on Troy tonight. It is hard to take a position against those guys. I think it is a mistake to put too much into North Texas non conf schedule. I will take my chances with the team that has proven it can get clobbered out of conference and still dominate the Sunbelt.
