Welp Stanford was my favorite play of the bowls until I got this news on ESPN this morning. I figured McCaffrey would want to put up 100's of all purpose yards against a weak defense one last time and I figured wrong. This year Fournette and McCaffrey, next year 15 first round picks, 3 years from now a projected 3rd round guard from Indiana will all want to skip their final college game to "avoid injury". Let's just prepare for this now and end the bowls as we know them for 2017. Expand the playoffs to 16 teams so there are more games that actually MATTER. Keep the Poinsettia Bowl, Potato Bowl, Toilet Bowl, Buttfuck Bowl around so a MAC and Sunbelt team can mix it up and the 3000 people that want to attend the game can and 30,000 people that want to watch the game on ESPN Mars can watch it. We knew this day was coming but I didn't expect it to happen THIS FAST.

He is not a man of honor.
He is a weasel.
He is turning his back on his teammates, coach, students, fans, and school.
He was given a scholarship, room and board, worth over $ 50,000 a year.
Stanford should purge all references to him, "to prepare for the bowl game and next season".

I've always enjoyed the Buttfuck bowl.

I think a lot needs to be changed with the college game. Coaches being able to be recruited and signed during season and abandoning their teams, too many bowl games, increase the amount of playoff teams, etc. I wouldn't have figured MCaffrey was a snake like this sitting out to prep for the draft essentially tucking his tail under his pussy.

I had a feeling this might happen and you can't really blame him for making a business decision because from what I've heard McCaffery has a late first round grade right now and there's really nothing he can do at this point to improve on that, beyond the Senior Bowl. We saw what happened to the kid from Notre Dame last year so why risk it? Now if Stanford had been in the CFP playoffs I'm sure that would be a different story as they would have something to play for, but the bottom line is that they are in a meaningless exhibition game and he is not under contract. The North Carolina +3.5 does seem somewhat more attractive now, but does anyone know what the deal is with Trubisky? He's high up there on the draft boards as well.

Now THIS, is a FUNNY thread, LMFAO. Serbone, I think a Stanford education runs a wee bit higher than 50K/year. Jles, new salsa coming out soon, let me know if ya want a sample. Sendacash, didn't see anything in today's Charlotte Observer while I was on the throne this a.m. but rest assured, I'll be watching out for any news regarding the rooski, I mean Trubisky, lol. Good luck Bowling men.

Still like Stanford. RB Love is solid and will want to show his worth heading into next season. He is not McCaffrey but very good.

Stipend the players based on their role at the University.

Put in scholarship contract that if a player decides to not play, they will be docked money. Others PAY for an education. These players play football for an education. If they don't play football, they shouldn't get that same education that others are paying for. Just my .02.

so why did he play any of their last few games if he was afraid of getting hurt? why not just quit on the team then instead of now.
those games really didnt have much meaning either.

i disagree with the move a bit but OTOH....it gives the other guys more playing time...guys who will be playing next year for Stanford.

so..meh. i think this tarnishes McCaffrey's star at Stanford a bit. But whatever...we move on

i understand Forunette sitting out. He's been injured most of the year anyway and has a very capable backup. Frankly, if I'm an NFL team, I would have to be wary drafting him.
He's been injured a lot the past 2 years it seems. Seems like more of the same as he heads to the NFL.

If you are physically able to play in a game that your team is playing in and you are on the team no to mention a very key component you should play. Anything short of that is a quitter, period. I do not need an explanation of how you are saving yourself for the NFL. We get that, your selfish not a team player. Good luck kid you will be another forgotten above average college athlete. A kid that was handed opportunities and resources on a silver platter his whole life. HaHa Please someone argue me he has had a hard day in his life, I promise you his worse day has been my best. Fuck em all, Any player that puts themselves above the team is a nobody. Peace out spoiled brat!

My good friend SDF, McCaffrey's been hurt as well, shit, it's part of the damn game. What's unfortunate is the precedent that Fournette has now established, won't be long before the NFL allows the NBA's "one and done."

i understand. i see both sides here. i lean to the side that prefers to see him play. get that one last game in with his teammates.
but if a player is too scared to get hurt and doesnt want to play...then whatever..be gone. i think less of him now.

good players get drafted even when hurt. See what the Cowboys did with the defensive guy they picked up from NDame....

Plenty of insurance policies out there to be purchased that could cover him for millions. His family is pretty well off as it is. I dont like the move. Quitting on his team but he wasn't that good this yr anyway.

NCAA is so pathetic, weak, bowl season is losing it's luster. They need to do the following:
1) eliminate 33% of the bowls
2) no coaches can be contacted by other schools or their representative with the intent to hire until their bowl game is over
3) any player who has been listed on a draft site as a potential draftee who does not play in the bowl game will forfeit his scholarship for the entire year
Details on some of this are complex, of course, punishment must be severe for # 2, but they can be done.

(if the Stanford coach is asked about McCaffrey at a press conference he should respond "who"?)

1) more bowl games not less. coaches wont go for less. ESPN wont go for less. In fact we should have more games...an 8 team playoff
2) heavy recruiting happens in December/January as high school players are finishing up their season and some are doing early entry into college to attend Spring drills. all this needs to happen during this time for February signing day
3) will never happen. players can just find an injury and not play.

McCaffrey put a ton into the Stanford program the past years and brought them some notoriety. He also got a terrific Stanford education. Stanford made plenty of money off McCaffrey as well, dont get it wrong. He'll be an NFL player and that's also good for Stanford. There's no since in treating McCaffrey as an outcast, but I certainly wouldnt bend over backwards for him. I'd be interested to hear what Coach Shaw thinks about it.

and the insurance policy certainly makes sense...

I am sure if it was a bigger bowl he would be playing. Same as L7F.
