Roger Clemens got his 16th win of the season and 326th career win (to tie Eddie Plank for 11th on the career list) today. Clemens (16-4) won his fourth straight start, allowing four hits in seven innings. He gave up his only run in the first on Sean Casey's RBI sacrifice fly, and Cincinnati managed only three singles over Clemens' next six innings. The Rocket finished with six strikeouts and two walks. He has an ERA of 3.19 with 183 strikeouts.

Schmidt is fading fast,
Pavano keeps putting up impressive numbers under the radar.
The Big Unit really should win, but his team is absolutely horribe.
Ditto with Ben Sheets and his lack of run support.

What about Roy Oswalt 17-9...he could take away votes from his teammate...

The 5 exrta losses and a slightly higer ERA hurt Oswalt, not to mention intangible reputation factor advantage Clemens has.

If i was the Astros manager and needed one pitcher to put on the hill for a game. At this point, this year, I'd pick Oswalt over Clemens every time.

Oswalt is on fire...I am wondering ifthey hurt each other when the votes are tallied...I would take Oswalt in a start at this point too...But Clemens numbers are slightly better overall...

I took Pavano at 3-1 two nights ago and took Santana to win the AL Cy young at 5-6. Pavano has put up great numbers this season and has the wins,the ERA, quality start percentage to win this award.
