OFFICIAL CFB FOOTBALL PICKS
LAST WEEK: 4-1
THIS SEASON: 7-3

I really loved my picks last week and it showed, missing out on a perfect 5-for-5 by a half point on the USF-Kansas thriller on Thursday night.

There's a couple games jumping out to me this week, but not as many, so away we go ...

Friday Night Special
Connecticut -13 vs Baylor
UConn, as much as I hate them, is a solid football team. Their defense has been stout, allowing 22 points in three games. They have a monster running game and the weather in central CT won't be sloppy like it was in Philly for their OT thriller over Temple two weeks ago. Baylor had a nice win last week and has a fun QB to build around, but winning on the road vs GOOD teams is a leap Baylor is not ready for.

Stay tuned for more Saturday picks soon. :103631605

Adds

This adds a couple games to my UConn pick...

Tennessee +7.5 vs Florida
EVERYONE's high on Florida and EVERYONE's down on Tennessee. And that's why you should be loving the Vols in a home 'dog role. This game has been decided on the ground lately, and the Vols have a stable full of backs and solid RBs that can slow down Florida's backs.

Auburn +3 vs LSU
This one takes cojones because it's going to be a close, taut thriller all game long. But Auburn is getting little respect for a home game in a game that has been notoriously close over the years. Yes, LSU's offense has higher upside, but they are bringing two very green and untested QBs into an environment that would make "hostile" blush. Take the points - they will be scarce Sunday night on ESPN.

UConn... Damn them, they always screw me... :finger:

I fall to 7-4 on the year after the Huskies fell in love with the red-zone turnover last night. Here's an add to my picks above.

Cincinnati -12 vs Miami (OH)
I had to flip what I normally think of to buy into this game. Because when you dig deeper, you may find warning signs to avoid the Bearccats. Breaking in a new QB... Mini-rivalry game... Miami (OH) has a decent defense. But then I stepped back and said, Cincy is a damn good team with a real good coach who has a big talent advantage in a night home game. They should roll at home.

Forgot to add this one too...

Eastern Michigan +21.5 at Maryland
Everyone was bagging the Terps last week as big, bad Cal was coming to town, and Maryland proceeded to WIN outright. Well, that was a classic trap game where a West Coast team played at Noon on the East Coast. This is the same kind of "opposite" thinking because it is still a bad football team that doesn't move the ball that easily. Not that EMU is much better, but if you don't think Maryland is scoring 35+ points here, a 3+ TD win is not bloody likely.

Nope, went to college at SUNY Geneseo in NY.

I'm thinking of adding a play on Tulsa -10 tonight at home vs New Mexico.

UNM coming off a big win so in a letdown spot and TUlsa had an extra week to prep for this one.

Getting back to Rx a little late but I was able to get my Tulsa play in, as noted above:

LATE ADD
Tulsa -10 vs New Mexico
Tulsa is bringing a bazooka to a knife fight in this one. Its offense is just silly - has been for years. Throw in the fact they've had two weeks to get ready for this one, while New Mexico has the high probablity for a letdown after last week's upset win over Arizona, and you gotta roll with the Golden Hurricane here.

2-4 for the week... 2 no-doubters and just missed 2 on TD with a minute left in the Auburn and EMU games...

Still 9-7 on the season though, so salvaged a potentially-bad week.
