Tuesday - Oct 28 Wagers

Boston Bruins -0.5 (+111)
The Bruins are playing great hockey behind Andrew Raycroft and his impressive 0.944 SV % while compiling a 3-1-1 start to the season. More importantly the Bruins have won 5 out of their last 6 games and are a much better road team this season with a 5-1-1-0 record. The Montreal Canadiens is playing a back-to-back game after losing to the Flyers by a 5-0 margin yesterday - Montreal are 7-12-1 on the Back end of Back to Back games. Should be a close game, but the Bruins will take advantage of young netmind Garon.

New York Rangers -0.5 (-101)
NYR somehow are playing competitive hockey after losing their first two games of the season. The Rangers are 2-0-2 in their last 4 games which happen to be at home. Dunham has been stellar for the Rangers posting a 0.935 SV% and a 1.75 GAA; while on the other hand the Ducks' Giguere has been simply average posting a 0.893 SV%, 3.14 GAA and have lost 5 out of his 6 starts. The Rangers are bound to score on the PowerPlay?!? Maybe they'll pop a few by Giguere at MSG tonight!

New York Islanders -0.5 (+141)
The Devils are 7-2-1 vs the Islanders in their last 10 games - but this is a new season and it appears that the Islanders have been playing much better (competitive) hockey as oppose to the Devils. NYI are 4-2-1-0 this season with a perfect 3-0 record. DiPietro (2-1-1) ranks #1 in the NHL with a 1.29 GAA and a solid 0.933 SV%. Brodeur (2-3-2) has played all 7 games for the Devils and is posting a 0.892 SV% and 2.39 GAA. The Islanders are ranked #4 in team scoring with an average of 3.29 goals per game, while the Devils are ranked #21 with an average of 2.00 goals per game. The game will likely be decided by special teams - the team that can score on the powerplay will likely win this game outright considering both the Islanders and Devils are in the top 15 in special teams (PP & PK).

[ Updated @ 9:50 AM EST ]

Martin Gerber, Anaheim Mighty Ducks - Gerber is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Rangers, reports the LA Times. We mentioned this the other day, but Gerber is simply playing better than Giguere and the coaching staff has little choice but to stick with the hot hand in light of the Ducks' early season slump. Giguere figures to remain the #1 starter unless he continues to struggle, but this has got to make people who own him in any leagues or pools just a little bit nervous.

Kevin Weekes, Carolina Hurricanes - Weekes is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Sharks, reports the Raleigh News-Observer.

David Aebischer, Colorado Avalanche - Aebischer is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Flames, reports the Denver Post.

Rick DiPietro, New York Islanders - DiPietro is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Devils, reports the New York Newsday. Garth Snow would then start Wednesday against the Penguins.

Brian Boucher, Phoenix Coyotes - Boucher is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Blackhawks, reports the Arizona Republic. This one is up in the air as the newspaper went on to speculate that even though it's Boucher's "turn" to start, Zac Bierk may end up getting the start instead. Sean Burke was not even mentioned.

Vesa Toskala, San Jose Sharks - Toskala is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Hurricanes, reports the Contra Costa Times. Unless he changes his mind, coach Ron Wilson confirmed this.

Brent Johnson, St. Louis Blues - Johnson is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Predators, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Chris Osgood will start on Wednesday against the Red Wings.

Felix Potvin, Boston Bruins - Potvin is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Canadiens.

Martin Biron, Buffalo Sabres - Biron is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Wild.

Jamie McLennan, Calgary Flames - McLennan is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Avalanche.

Jocelyn Thibault, Chicago Blackhawks - Thibault is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Coyotes.

Marc Denis, Columbus Blue Jackets - Denis is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Canucks.

Dwayne Roloson, Minnesota Wild - Roloson is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Sabres.

Mathieu Garon, Montreal Canadiens - Garon is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Bruins.

Tomas Vokoun, Nashville Predators - Vokoun is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Blues.

Mike Dunham, New York Rangers - Dunham is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Mighty Ducks.

Dan Cloutier, Vancouver Canucks - Cloutier is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jackets.

Martin Brodeur, New Jersey Devils - Brodeur is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Islanders. On a somewhat related note, GM Lou Lamoriello has forbidden any of the Devils' assistant coaches from talking to the media before or after games. Coach Pat Burns is still allowed to give interviews, but it seems the pressure of starting slow has caused the defending Cup champs to shun the media. Luckily, Brodeur is the Devils' #1 goalie as usually there is no mystery that he will start the majority of their games.

Jeff Hackett, Philadelphia Flyers - Hackett was disappointed and upset that he was not allowed to start against his former team, the Canadiens, on Monday night, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer. The speculation is that this could have been a message directed at the goalie that he needs to improve his play if he wants to earn more starts. The situation in Philadelphia is definitely worth paying attention to. Hackett is the more proven goalie, but Robert Esche is probably more favored by the Flyers organization. As a result, Hackett will need to play at or near his best if he wants to continue seeing the bulk of starts. In fact, coach Ken Hitchcock announced after Monday's game that Esche will get a second straight start on Wednesday against the Panthers, but the Flyers play the night after against the Devils, and Hackett will surely play that game.

Marc-Andre Fleury, Pittsburgh Penguins - Fleury is the early favorite to earn the start on Wednesday against the Islanders, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Coach Ed Olczyk has held off on naming his start until after today's practice so we will update this situation tomorrow.

Curtis Joseph, Detroit Red Wings - Barring a last minute setback, Joseph is pencilled to start Thursday's game against the Predators, reports both the Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press. He definitely won't play Wednesday against St. Louis - that game will be started by Dominik Hasek - but his ankle injury is virtually all healed up and the Wings want him playing an NHL game as soon as possible.

Pittsburgh Penguins +0.5(+110) *Best Bet x2*
The Islanders just demolished the Penguins merely 4 days ago by a 7-2 margin. However, the Islanders just lost 4-0 to the Devils and is playing a back-to-back game. M. Fleury is expected to start for the Penguins who is leading the NHL with a .947 SV% and is ranked #14 in the NHL with a 1.98 GAA. More importantly, the Penguins will have their ACE in net and not Caron (who gave up the 7 goals on the weekened). The Islanders should be fatigue after playing yesterday, and the Penguins will be rejuvinated for this game. As long as Fleury is standing on his head - the Penguins have a great shot at taking this game - either by forcing this game in to overtime (subsequently, a tie) or possibly winning this game straight up!

WILL POST MORE PLAYS TOMMORROW - JUST LIKE THE PENGUINS HERE
