I originally had four tentative plays selected. Three of them being dogs I thought I’d wait to see if the line would move and I could get a better price, (as NHL dogs inevitably do increase in value as the public tends to pound the favorite). The lines have moved slightly but apparently John Q. Public sees it the way I do and all have moved the other way. I guess I should be happy at this validation by the masses but instead it makes me cautious and look further into the numbers and intangibles.
At this point I’m still apprehensive to commit to anything and personally I don’t take a game to just have the action. I used to do that at one time. I’d bet a game just because it was on T.V. and I had nothing else to do. And I used to lose. For me those are the low percentage type of plays that kill any bankroll.
For information purposes ONLY, my four plays were….
Minnesota/Columbus Under 4.5
Phoenix +.5/ +124
Edmonton PK -111 (they were at -104 and the number is creeping up)
L.A. Kings +.5 +111 (they were at +117)
I could still change my mind and do something later but at this point there are too many questions regarding these plays, (more than I have time to illustrate here), and I don’t recommend any at this time.
Better to run today…..to fight another day. I had a friend who used to say, “when in doubt, take the dog”. As for me, my motto is, “when in doubt, sit it out”.
NHL single unit plays………95-60-7.…..+ 35.41
Unit and a half plays………..14-5-1.…… + 12.345
NHL total to Date…………...109-65-8.……+ 47.705
