Tough day for me yesterday but in hindsight I wouldn’t have done anything different so I’ve have no regrets, just a day in the red. Which have been few and far between. Let’s start another winning streak.
Tampa Bay/Carolina Under 5 -112
Carolina has the leagues worst offense, (1.38 GPG as a home dog), and now is minus Ronnie Francis. As a dog at home this year the Hurricanes O/U record is 4-11-1.
In the two games between these clubs at Carolina this year there have been a total of two goals. Last year in three games there was 9.
Colorado Avalanche -.5 -102
Colorado probably was the winner of yesterday’s trade deadline sweepstakes picking up insurance in goal with Tommy Salo, (although I thought Kolzig would have been a much better fit), and badly needed defensive help in Ossi Vaananen, Chris Gratton, Matthew Barnaby. I just hope that Salo gets the nod tonight in what would be a very emotional home coming after a one day departure.
Peter Forsberg could be back in the line up tonight to help this team get back on the winning side they are accustom. Playing barely .500 hockey for the last couple weeks they got back on track and destroyed Vancouver 9-2 in their last game. If they can keep that kind of intensity tonight than Edmonton simply does not have the horses to keep up. Especially after their hard fought 1-1 tie at Calgary last night.
The price is right for a Avalanche win.
Los Angeles Kings -.5 -102
The Kings get their first look at Glendale Arena where the hosts have been more than hospitable. In fact Phoenix has a stronger road record this year than at home.
Playing the second of a home and home after a 3-2 Kings victory last night Los Angeles has too much to play for, (tied for eighth place with St. Louis and with a game at hand),to let these gift two points slip through their fingers. The Coyotes were down two to nothing last night and were being beaten in every way possible only to score two quick goals in about two minutes of the second period to make this game closer than it really should have been. The Kings out shot them 37-19 and if it wasn’t for a great performance by Brent Johnson this game would have been decided in the first period.
NHL single unit plays………78-53-7.…..+ 25.52
Unit and a half plays………..13-4-1.…… + 12.87
NHL total to Date…………...91-57-8.……+ 38.39
