San Jose Sharks -.5 -115

San Jose looks to get back into the win column after losing three in a row. However the losing streak isn’t all as terrible as it would seem when you realize that they lost at Colorado then at Dallas before losing their first game at home since January the 22nd. Until that loss to Minnesota on Tuesday they owned a eight game home wining streak. They are one of the strongest teams at home with a record of 18-8-7.

The Islanders got their big gun back on Tuesday at St. Louis. Alexei Yashin returned after missing almost three months. But it’s still questionable how much of an impact he’ll have until his endurance and game speed returns. Still they’ll need him and whatever he can offer as the Islanders struggle to hold on to the final playoff spot in the east. New York has lost 5 of their last 7 and have looked like anything but a playoff caliber team. On the road they have been a story of futility. Only the Black Hawks, Penguins, Blue Jackets, and Mighty Ducks have a worse record away from home ice.

Lastly these two teams are on the complete opposite ends of the spectrum as a home favorite and road dog. New York has won only five times all year as a dog on the road, (5-15-4), while the Sharks have only failed to cover five times all year as a home fav, (15-5-4).

NHL single unit plays………80-54-7.…..+ 26.47
Unit and a half plays………..13-4-1.…… + 12.87

NHL total to Date…………...93-58-8.……+ 39.34

plus if Minny holds looks lie the Alternative Puck spread with the + VIG would have went 3-2 tonite for at least a 2 or 3 unit profit....but I didnt play em....

I'm very discliplined in narrowing down my selections. But some days I like so many I may use the shot gun approach. In all honesty I find the games in the last few days hard to figure. With all the movements, emotions, (or lack of) within the teams I've found that some of the teams that have had firesales have actually played better than before they traded off their "talent". So many close games right now and all of them seem to come down to overtime, (at least the ones I've been on!)

Tonight I was also looking at some heavy favorites but I try to pick small favs, pick 'ems or dogs. Usaully what I list is the only ones I'm playing although sometimes something comes in late due to the right match up in goal, favorable line movement or late information that I can't resist and I'll jump on it late.

Vic,

Do you mind me asking what heavy favorites you are lookong at. I would like to maybe look at them in a parlay. Best of luck and thanks for your efforts.
