Anaheim/Los Angeles Over 4.5 -125
When I first saw this number come up early Saturday afternoon on Olympic I said…. surely it’s a mistake. So I called and found out, it wasn’t a mistake or a misprint and they prefer you don’t call them surely.
So if it’s not a mistake can someone tell me why this number isn’t at 5? Is it a trap? Do they know something that I don’t know? Well the answer to that last question is of course they do but that’s fine….I’ll stumble naively into the darkness and bite anyway.
Here’s what I do know. I’ve seen these two teams play each other a few times this year and every time it’s a wide open, high shooting affair that goes over the total almost every time. Yet every game the linesmaker keeps posting a 4 and a half. Five games this year and all were 4.5 with four of them going over. They combined for 8 goals on 1/7, 6 on 1/24, 7 on 1/28. Then only 3 goals scored on 2/28 but I had that game and watched every minute of it. There could have easily been 7 or 8 as the two teams combined for 67 shots on goal Giguere stood on his head all game for the Ducks only allowing one goal with 36 saves. The next night they combined for 76 shots and lit the lamp 9 times.
This result is not unique to this year either. Last year they went over the total 3 out of 5 times. In the ten games between these two since last year they have scored a total of 66 goals. No calculator is needed to figure out they average 6.6 goals per game. So WHY does this number remain at 4.5?
