Grand Salami Over 31 -110

[unit and a half play]

I went over this card and the one thing that kept jumping out at me was the totals. And every time it was the same way. Over the number.
After last night’s easy slide over the Salami’s grand total the record now stands at 25-6-1. I’m putting my money that it does it again tonight.
Put the biscuit in the basket.

Florida Panthers -.5 -139

I know at first glance this might look like the night that Pittsburgh finally wins a game. Florida has played inconsistent and have had injuries but the two are linked and it appears that Bure as well as a couple others could be back tonight which in truth is a very important game and one they are not looking past.

Every point is crucial for this team at this juncture and taking two pints here and tomorrow at Washington are paramount to a team that as of today are 11 points out of the playoffs. In my mind it is not realistic that this team will make up such a large number against such difficult competition, (they have the Islanders, Buffalo, and Atlanta ahead of them), and with only twenty odd games remaining. However you must believe that they believe and if they are to accomplish such a task it MUST start tonight.

Florida has beaten this team eight straight times and nine out of the last ten including a 5-1 victory in Florida a week ago.

NHL single unit plays………60-43-4 + 16.50
Unit and a half plays…………5-1-0 +6.525

NHL total to Date………..65-44-4 +23.025

What is the goaltending situation for Florida? It looks like Luongo MIGHT get the night off. Florida plays Washington tommorrow.

InSpades - I cannot find confirmation on this either. Rookie Chiodo for Pens(played decent against NY Isle), Post Gazette reported Luongo as probable goaltender. I have a feeling Luongo is going to play because Florida really needs these 2 points and it is not a back2back game. I am likely playing the UNDER and the Penguins, both going against serious trends however.

Charlie Hustle - Thanks. I already knew Chiodo was starting for sure. I only meant Luongo was listed as probable but not 100% sure about him. Believe me when I tell you that this game has a much better chance of staying UNDER with Chiodo as opposed to Aubin.

I take your word for this as it seems you follow the PENS quite closely. Is this new guy decent? Aubin was terrible. What are you taking tonight? I really looking at Columbus as a live DOG tonight. Who knows?

The Penguins drafted this guy late in the draft after taking Fleury with the 1st overall pick so he is referred to as "The other goalie". I really don't think he will amount to much but he played pretty well despite allowing 4 goals to the Islanders on Long Island. Look, Patrick Roy in his prime would allow goals with this defense in front of him. The reason I think the Pens have a chance is that Florida has showed no ability to score on the road. Rookie goalies seem to have success until the league can study them and check out their tendencies, etc. as well so I think Chiodo can keep the Penguins in this.

I am thinking about calling the offices of the Florida Panthers. I am sure they would know if Luongo is starting. It is worth the nickel.

VegasVic -

You said that a bunch of games looked like possible over's to you --

The one that really jumps out at me and I was fully expecting it to be at 5.5 instead of 5 is the Tampa Bay/Boston game -- what are your thoughts on this one?

The other one is the Colorado/Dallas at 4.5 -

I think both of these games have a lot of value.

I just called the Florida Panther's offices. I was told that only the coach know's for sure who will start in goal tonight for Florida.

Hey, VegasVic, keep up the great work. You are one of the better cappers on any of the boards.

The over isn't looking good tonight, so far, as there has only been one goal scored, but, we shall see.

Either way, keep up the great work.

Hey guys thanks for all the questions and support. Pardon me if I don't respond right away. My job demands more of my time than I wish and just cranking out my daily post takes conserted effort. (my priorities are all screwed up...one of these days I'll have to find a way so the posts are my day job and I'll moonlight doing real work!)

I got incredibly lucky on the salami last night. 16 goals scored in the third period or overtime. I’ll never complain over a bad beat again…..well perhaps not.

Do not take the overs in the first periods!!!! If anything take it in the third and under for the first. These teams play like drowning sailors grasping for a life line come the end of the game with playoff implications so prevalent and sets up perfectly for late game scoring flourishes.

GL to all
