I'm fascinated by the challenge of having system picks for all of the major "Pro" sports.

I believe I now have the NFL, NBA and MLB covered...the lone holdout has been the NHL.

Without a doubt the NHL has been the "hardest nut to crack."

I know nothing about the NHL...and have never watched a game...but that doesn't matter.

Without a doubt you can successfully cap any of the Pro sports with just stats and absolutely zero knowledge of the game, if you use common sense, logic and some imagination.

But this is still an experiment...I am really trying to set up for next season. I may have to tweak a few things here as we go.

I'm fairly certain the ML picks will show a profit by the end of the season...the -1.5 lines I am much less sure of...but thats the point of posting them here. Lets see how this shakes out.

Follow at your own risk...I do not recommend you play these at all...yet.

I will be tracking ML, -1.5 lines and O/U's separately.

As always, I will be documenting my picks at Wagerline and using their lines.

I believe this is the fairest and most honest way to do it.

-1.5 lines will have to come from Betjam at the time of posting.

NHL Computer Picks

Tuesday, January 13

<table class="thepicks"><tbody><tr class="datahead"> <td width="32%">Game</td> <td width="15%">Score</td> <td width="15%">Status</td> <td width="29%">Pick</td> <td width="9%">Amount</td> </tr> <tr class="firstline"> <td> St. Louis </td> <td> - </td> <td>9:30 PM ET</td> <td>St. Louis +245</td> <td>500</td> </tr> <tr> <td> Calgary </td> <td> - </td> <td> </td> <td>Over 5.5</td> <td>500</td> </tr> <tr class="firstline"> <td> Tampa Bay </td> <td> - </td> <td>10:30 PM ET</td> <td>Over 5.5</td> <td>500</td> </tr> <tr> <td> San Jose </td> <td> - </td> <td> </td> <td> </td> <td> </td></tr></tbody></table>
Adding
St Louis Blues +1½ -120 Betjam

The purpose of the 1.5 lines is to compare to the ML picks.

Which provides the best value over time?...if they work at all.

The ML picks in particular require patience...which 90% of you do not have...which is why you always lose at wagering.

I could care less about daily and weekly records. Some months will be negative...but over time...I believe the method will produce units.

Thats all I care about...making money. All the rest is noise.

Again...for everyone that missed it the first time. This is just a live experiment...do not follow. There is no history...just my theories.

Good luck in your wagers. :103631605

You're absolutely right about patience, everybody loses because they dont have enough of it. I'll look into your thread, see how your NHL picks are doing, but definitely will not wager on it, until proven be a winning system, just like your NFL or NBA CPU's. GL :toast:

MisterMj

Glad to see you experimenting in the nhl.

I would caution you to always know the starting goalie, as his save pctg is a big factor.

Also, power play pctg vs. penalty time (and penalty kill pctg) are a major player.

...Definitely looking forward to your plays.

I'm going to endeavor to create my own lines for the nhl in a week or two, as well.

Don't follow these...I have no clue what I am doing. :lolBIG:

I will only play the 1.5 lines at -120 or below...so no 1.5 line with this pick today.I could say good luck...but again...don't follow these.
Which of course means they should be wildly successful.

Nah...thats just wagerline clownbux for tracking purposes.

I am not suggesting I wager that much...or that anyone should.

It's just a number.:103631605

I'm going to streamline some things here. After working on the NHL a little bit I have a better feel for what I want to do.

I'm going to keep the current ML system and the 1.5 line picks that go with it.

The record is being carried forward...so no changes...just naming the system.

Big Dog Picks are as the name implies...large NHL ML dogs >+200 and the 1.5 lines that go with each pick are tracked to see how the value corresponds.

Big Dog ML Picks >+200 ML (all tracked at $500 using wagerline or Betjam odds)
<table style="width: 203px; height: 24px;" id="dtSeasonRecords" class="data" border="0"><tbody><tr><td class="center" align="center">0-2-0</td><td>0.00%</td><td>-1000
</td></tr></tbody></table>Big Dog 1.5 lines
1.5 lines 1-1 -$100

The Over under picks will be dropped...I'm just not interested.

I'll be adding a new system and tracking it separately.

NHL Computer picks
(Betjam odds at time of posting)

These will be ML and 1.5 lines less than the +200 picks in the Big Dog system and do not have to be a dog.
=============================

One pick passes the filters today for the NHL Computer pick system.

Minnesota +160

This is a live experiment. Follow at your own risk.
