Not Taking Part In Miller Time Puts Wisc. Man In Unemployment Line - Isac Aguero May Try To Get Job At Anheuser-Busch

[font=arial,sans-serif]The battle of the beers took a new twist in Racine this week when a Miller beer distributor fired an employee whose picture was in the paper. He was drinking a Bud Light.

Competition between Miller Brewing and Budweiser has never been hotter, according to affiliate station WISN 12 News in Milwaukee.

CODE --></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>Anheuser-Busch may have three times the market share of Miller, but Miller is the hometown brew.

"This is what happens when you drink a great beer," former C.J.W. employee Isac Aguero said.

Last Saturday night in Racine at the Mardi Crawl on Main Street, a newspaper photographer asked a group of revelers to pose for a picture. The only problem was that a man holding a Bud Light worked for a Miller distributor.

"I was just having a good time," Aguero said.

Aguero said when he went to work on the day his picture hit the paper, the place was abuzz.

"When I came in, they said, 'You're in trouble for drinking Bud Light,'" Aguero said.

Then, his boss gave him the ax.

"I asked him to tell me the reason why I'm fired, and he was like, 'There's no reason. We just don't need you no more,'" Aguero said.

To Aguero, the reason was as clear as his picture in the Racine Journal Times.

Aguero's boss wasn't in, but off-camera, a C.J.W. employee told 12 News that it won't discuss personnel issues, but said the company does not tell its workers what to drink.

.J.W'.s employee handbook doesn't directly address drinking the competition.

"It's my choice of beer. Who can tell you what to drink or not to drink? What you like?" Aguero asked.

Aguero is supporting two young sons so he's on the job hunt, but he's trying to keep his sense of humor.

"I was actually thinking I was going to go apply at Anheuser-Busch," Aguero said.

To Aguero, the whole incident makes no sense.

"It's like saying you work at Pepsi and you get caught drinking a Coke, are you fired for that?" Aguero asked.

"I don't know? Are you?" WISN 12 News reporter Colleen Henry asked.

"I'm not sure. I mean, I guess so. I got fired for Bud Light," Aguero said.

Two years ago, a truck driver for Coca-Cola lost his job after he was spotted slugging a Pepsi.

For its part, Miller Brewing told 12 News its distributors are independent businesses with their own policies -- that Miller has no formal policy on this issue.

For once this would be one jury trial I would like to be in on....

What's next....the newly hired Ford worker will only be formally "in" when he sells the foreign export he has driven for 10 years?

The guy selling vacuum cleaners will have the closet police inspect his house for some other brand of vacuum?

The guy working for Marlboro has to drop his cigar fetish?

The guy working at McDonald's could get fired if his roommate orders a pizza from Godfathers?

I also hope he sues and wins. Miller should just find a cheap knockoff of a Budweiser product to try to compete, just like all the tv execs are clamoring for the next hit reality series......

I say he got what he deserved.
Try driving your FORD onto a GM Plant Parking Lot and see how that works for ya...

It is called Product Loyalty.

Miller Brewing Company puts food on his table, at least he could drink it.

Notorious:

What does that have to do with anything? I guess since Bblight Coulter is an asst mgr @ McDonalds his ass should be fired if he has a desire for a Whopper from Burger King??? I guess since Redneckman delivers newspapers for the NY Times that his ass should be fired for reading the USA Today?

If the guy shows up on time and does his job the company has no say what the guy does on his free time ... how do we know the beer given to him was not by a buddy?

So, while we're in the process of shoving choices down someone's throat, and forgetting about living in a so-called democracy.....

When do companies get to enforce quotas on how much product thier employees need to buy to be officially patriotic?

Maybe they need to force the employees to drink about a case a day, and come out with an official company flag for them to wave while they're sitting out on the front porch getting snockered.

Phuck Miller Brewing Company.

Guys I work for Budweiser....All the management in my facility are almost cult like with their Bud products if you are out and they see you with some other beer they will hold it against you and take it out on you....They won't fire you because they can't, it is union here....

The other thing is the mentality of the management where I work is not the highest either....

I do not like Bud products, may have a Bud Light or Ultra every so often but to me Bus products are toilet water....Now I don't say this to loud or to often at work...I enjoy a good beer, something Bud is not...

I don't know if this buy worked at a union place, does not look like it....

They will be getting sued big time as how can they justify firing the guy for drinking another beer....After all this is still a free country and the company can't control your choices....

I talk Bud up when I am out because everybody thinks working for Bud is great, let me tell you it is nothing special and if my place was run by a bunch of chimps instead of the managers we have now no one would notice a difference........
