Quitting smoking ain't that tough - I quit about 15 years ago. One little trick, everytime you get an urge, drink some water and think of a pile of dog crap - how it smells, it's texture, etc.. - after a while, your mind associates the urge to smoke and the pile of crap, and you stop having urges - drinking the water keeps you away from the food and an ever expanding waste line.

Losing wait is really tough. If you quit smoking, you don't reinforce the habit - when you're trying to diet, you continue to reenforce eating by eating! And being married to a great cook doesn't help.
