I would think that it would be very difficult to come up with a name and simply start marketing in 2004. there are so many books out there, and so few that are TRULY STRONG. Can new books make it to the level of a Pinnacle, or are these entrepeneurs wasting their time? With the recent legislation hindering print advertising, etc, i would think that other businesses may be better.

IMO

NEW sportsbooks do not have a chance, With all the top books that never seem to have any problems...and all the new books over the past year going tits up...I would say no chance...I will not trust a new book again for a LONG time. UNLESS its backed by one of the top books.

for example bet jamaica and Spiro having a hand in it...

my 2 cents

My Bold Prediction:

The first new sportsbook to open with THEIR own Pre-paid Visa or Mastercard will become the greatest thing since sliced bread.
2 conditions: No fees to withdraw your money once every 30 days. And No fees for NOT using your card (dormant fee).

Several factors are essential. Natrually only financially secure books need apply. However money itself will not guarntee success. You need a very strong and experinced management team, one that knows how to make book, manage personnel, finances, marketing, and legal issues etc. A new book would do well to implement innovative marketing techniques. For example - what if a brand new book using a similar operating model as that of Pinnacle opened, and figured a method to insure the post up money of it's clientele. I mean a fool proof method, they would have to get serious consideration from any off-shore bettor. imho.

EXACTLY WILHEIM

Just what I was going to say, but knew you could say it better.

Successful people with know how in this business could do very well offshore.

But will admit, those types may be allready in business offshore and those that are not, never had plans to do so and will never have the desire in the future.

I think new books have a chance beacuse there are a lot of new clients just waiting for the right book for them. Now the books need to have a lot of things into consideration like their maketing stategy, methods of deposit bla bla bla...

Wouldn't you have to be a brilliant marketer to go into it now? I would think it very hard now unless you already had a lot of clients going in.

IMO,, brand new books need to come into the market "UNDER" someone or have the backing of a big name like Bet jamacia did with spiro in order to have ANY shot THEN they can branch out on there own..like now bet jamacia says they are not a clone book of Oly ..but IMO having spiro involved at the begining helped them immensely.I posted up there becasue of that guy backing them. ..I think you will see that happening in the future

As I've said before The top ten offshore books are going to get bigger the little books are going to merge with the bigger ones. I truly believe in the next couple of years there's going to be a super ten out there and they will have all the business. The top ten books out there are getting stronger year by year and they are now becoming stong companies that are hiring top level marketing people to go out and get square post up players.Small books cannot compete with the budgets of the big off-shore companies. Some of these companies have two to five milion dollar budgets for marketing. The days of opening a book with a two million dollare bank-roll are over.

A local bookmaker already established in the US or anywhere could start up shop with his existing clients and build from there. Absolutely some will start today that wil become successful.

jersey joe,

I know bettors here right now that if I mentioned Pinnacle or Olympic, they would say "huh?" With over 1800 gaming sites available and growing, it will be a tough task. Do I wish there were only the 10 best? Very much so.

A new book with good financial backup and internet marketing expertise can become big. Many people just search on the engines and deposit on the top book on the list or based on the info or nice layout of the site.
