This rumor has legs.

LSU contacted Spurrier's agent to ask if he would be interested......he did NOT say no. Apparently, his contract (with Carolina) has a 60 day release clause, and after the contact with LSU's athletic director, the bastard told S. Carolina he wanted an additional 30 days to decide if he would actually sign the contract with them. UNBELIEVABLE!

Now, I'm not saying that I wouldn't LOVE to see him coach all that offensive talent we have coming back, but COME ON! What sort of reliability/longevity will we have with a guy who pulls a douche-bag move like that?

At LSU...maybe 10 years. The program is in great shape and it's certainly easier to recruit to LSU than SC. Spurrior will leave USC within three years, but I think he'd retire at LSU after winning at least one NC.

Local affiliates here say Les Myles is going to be offered the job. That is really, really scary because this guy can really coach. Don't count the flop in the Alamo bowl, this guy is nails. Remember, he's beaten Stoops 2 of the last 3 years with C grade talent. If he gets those kids from Louisiana, Mississippi and sprinkle in some from Texas, watch out NATION.

Looks like LSU may go cheap and go after Miles after all...

It looked like Spurrier was a done deal, and we heard from the same guy who told us about Saban back when he came over.

Not a good hire in my estimation...he'll do fine for the next few year with all the talent that is here, but not exactly a big name for recruiting...

Welcome back to the DiNardo days !!!

I agree. I think Miles was a great find for LSU. The people there might ***** about the selection because he's an unknown. But this guy can flat out coach. He was coach of the year in the Big 12 a couple of years ago. He's had pro expierence coaching for the Dallas Cowboys. And he brings 3 of his assistant coaches with him. Those are the cats that really scare me. They've pulled some bigtime surprises on OU the last few years. He'll probably bring his DC Clay with him. He was Miss.St. DC in the early 90's when they had some good defensive teams. So he knows SEC football. Personally I'm glad to get all of those guys out of town so we can get back to beating OSU on a regular basis. Plus Miles will be a lot more hard nosed than Saban. He doesn't put up with any shiiiit from anybody. But the players all love him. All I can say is watch out SEC. You heard it here first.

DUDE....you should stick to "Sooner" ball.

That Oklahoma State DC (Clay) is a TOTAL ZERO, and all you have to do is check out the amount of points scored on OK. St. to verify this. He is an absolutely terrible coach, who will drag LSU's defense into the bottom half of Division I defenses. Adding insult to this injury is that he will be brought in to replace Will Muschamp....a TRUE defensive genius.

If Les Miles retains Clay as his defensive coordianator, I will bet the OVER in every single LSU game, until the day he is fired......or justifiably homocided

All I'm saying is give this guy a chance. He had absolutely nothing to work with at OSU this year. I was hoping Miles would take his offensive coordinator Gundy with him. He's the one who's been courted by a lot of schools over the last couple of years. But he's going to end up being OSU's new head coach.

Holy crap. Bill Clay was getting hammered by the fans in Stillwater. He will be crucified in Baton Rouge because he is a terrible coach.

Gundy getting the HC gig at Okie State is good news to Sooner fans because he is the offensive equivilant of Bill Clay.

My prediction: OSU and LSU will both suck

I might buy your claims about Clay. But not Gundy. He's the one who put in all of those offensive schemes that beat OU 2 years in a row. And gave them one of the top rated offenses in the Big 12 last year. The only thing Gundy is unproven at is recruiting. I'm still not sure what the situation is with Clay. All I heard them say was Miles is taking as many as 3 assistants with him. They didn't say who they were.

Also I just wanted to add that Gundy was held back this year by Miles schemes. Gundy is more of a wide open offensive coach. He complained a few times this year that OSU didn't pass enough. I believe he'll open it up next year. But not with the QB they have. I believe they have a highly touted redshirt freshman QB they'll unleash next year.
