He has MVP level athletic ability and football talent, times two, but when it comes to decision making and being able to adjust on the fly...his capability is equal to and reflects his Wunderlic score of 13. Stats can be very deceiving in short sample sizes
Allen has had 3 great playoff games, 4 decent ones, and 3 bad ones. Put up crazy numbers in some wins over Mac Jones and Mason Rudolph. Got some great garbage time numbers when Mahomes and the Chiefs destroyed Allen in his only AFC championship game appearance
Also cost his team against the Texans, and laid a 10-point egg at home against the Bengals when Burrow kicked his teeth in

Or having the Ravens hand you a playoff game by fumbling the ball on the way into the end zone which was another gift to the Bengals. That Tennessee game Burrow sat in the pocket and threw for 300+ yards on 75% completion percentage despite no running game and getting sacked NINE times because of the worst offensive line in the league
Burrow carried the worst offensive line in the league to the Super Bowl.
The defense made timely turnovers as well, but the degree of difficulty when your offensive line is so fucking awful is pretty damn high.

Tannehill threw 3 pics, one of them in the last possesion of the game driving for the winning score. Same as the Ravens gift to you a couple of years ago. Who cares how well Burrow played, that was a gift whether you want to believe it or not.
The way it's going that will be the Bengals and Burrows high watermark in this era, is beating the Chiefs in a playoff game. Congrats.
There is no reason to debate stats in the playoffs...you have to win the game. We can start with the fact that just about anyone would take Mahomes, Allen or Burrow over Jackson in a playoff game. The debate is really would you rather have Love, Goff, Hurts or Stafford rather than Jackson. I would and I would throw Baker into that list too because he has won playoff games with a lesser team. Lamar continues to lose playoff games when he has the better team. The stats and notes above only reinforce that he is an excellent, MVP level football player re: ability and talent. He continues to have a huge hole in his play that shows up every year at playoff time.

Bengals got good turnover luck in that run, but also got hosed the next year
Chiefs have gotten many, including that officiating in the second AFC championship game against the Bengals and that Super Bowl
Bills got a fumble out of the end zone gift against Chiefs last year that would’ve ended the game. Allen also fumbled on their drive to try and tie the game that went through the hands of Chiefs defenders that would have ended the game. Those weren’t gifts?
Or how about the neutral site ruling for the AFC championship game because of the Hamlin situation and getting a bonus home playoff game out of it against Cincinnati? That wasn’t a gift?
Difference is Bills couldn’t take advantage .
As far as watermarks go, Bengals have a much higher one than the Bills in recent years .
