I assuming since everyone is saying 17 or so that is not a middle, but actually a hedge back at the half vs. original position. It is easy to say now that we all know what happened, but as you saw when I was posting in the NBA forum, when I was rocking in NBA totals, when I had a big lead on original total, I let it ride, because I hate giving away established value. By the time the half rolled in, you had quite a bit of value, and very low % chance of losing. By hedging here, in this spot you are going against the flow of the game, and squandering whatever percentage you bet under in the second, if it does not hit. Very remote chance you hit second half under and lose game over. By that scenario you are just squandering established value from the high scoring first half.
Another problem is the number you are working with in the 2H. It is derived from the original game total. In this case the 2H was 91. So you have a 106 point 1H, which pretty much says the pace and game are not going with the 180 total. You are betting under 91, in normally a higher scoring half. I took the other route and went over, surviving a 42 point 3rd. But winning again. I have used this to hit 7 straight 2H bets. Back to the vegetable garden project.
