I can see why they need a playclock, but since no Tie is possible i assume the game clock is 100% irrelevant, except to screw up a play at the end of an OT..

NO - OT in the playoffs is treated like the start of a new game. If they go a full period the teams will change sides of the field when the 2nd period begins..

so after 2 quarters no score, Jets would automatically get the ball, like after a halftime?

There would be a short halftime and then San Diego would kick off. This has never happened but those are the rules.

Is that for sure true??? If so, I wonder if the Jets knew about it....they kicked the game winner with 8 sec left....wouldve been something if they let it run out and then realized that they had given up their opportunity to kicked the game winner.

nevermind....misread the part about being 2 quarters to get to half....so it wouldve taken a whole other OT to get to the halftime and kickoff.....my bad.
