Just around the corner fellas.... The greatest sport is here@):)

Have some early games here that i like and some more i am looking at...

AKRON / PENN ST

LOVE this PSU team this year....Yes i know only returning 9 starters from LY, but i think they are the TOPS of the big ten. Ohio St. will be good but right now IMOP they are over rated a little bit. The USC game will be huge for them to see where they go. I can see PSU matching there record LY or going undefeated!! Everyone is talking about Florida, Texas or Okl to be there in the Title game....But i really think PSU has a great shot also. They have one of the TOP QB's.....The TOP RB....and IMOP the TOP set of LB's with Sean Lee coming back. They have a very light schedule to make a run. Having OSU at home really helps. They will have no problem with this AKRON team here.
PSU...56 AKRON....10

PENN ST -26 1/2 (BIGGEST PLAY OF THE WEEKEND)

S.CAROLINA / NC ST

Like the Wolfpack here. They have not had a winning season in around 3 or so years..but i think that will all change this year when they are battleing for the Atlantic Div. SC is not a bad team..they do have a lot of talent....But i dont think they will get it going till late in the season...maybe pulling some upsets with Tenn or Bama.
NC ST...27 SC..13

NC ST -3 1/2

W.MICH / MICHIGAN

To many pts here IMOP. W.Mich will be on TOP of the Mac with C.Mich real close behind. Hiller is a Great QB with talent on both sides of the ball. Michigan will be better than LY...how can they not...i can see them winning around 6-7 games and be back in a bowl....They will not hit there stride till mid season though. Cant say Western will pull of the upset..but they will have it close all game.
MICH...23 W.MICH..20

W.MICHIGAN +11 1/2

Still looking at 2-3 more games...Be back later

BEST OF LUCK THIS SEASON

Not That Sold On WMU

but also don't think the Wolves s/b laying this # yet. WM has Hiller & their RB returning true, but lost 2 of their best WR. And have only 3 ret. starters on D. However, they may not need too much against this version of the U of M!! Wish you the BOL. Staying in the B10 that wk, take a look @ my GG - 6.5 @ the Cuse. They're a terrible team, w/a 1st yr coach & a Fr. QB in his 1st start. I know Mn. has not been $$ OTR, but this is an improved GG team, w/lots of experience. Weber to Decker is one of the 2 best combos in the conf.! Ill. Juice to Benn is also very good. See Mn. putting a lot of pts up in this one. And they're certainly used to domes.:toast:

How are my friend....I did look a this game a little.....Gophers have a nice team this year getting better ever year. I love WEBER AND DECKER combo. Gophers do return the most in the Big10 with 17 starter coming back...and they will make it back to a bowl...The Cuse on the other hand has a lot of rebuilding going on..I can see them at the bottom of the Big East and with a NEW HC and FR. QB it might be another long season for them....I think you have a good play buddy...

i really really want to play on minnesota. but i have no idea why brewster wants to go more of a running game instead of utilizing what will be some potent receivers. decker, carpenter, green and tow-arnett are going to be 1 hell of a receiving corp. i don't know why he doesn't want to take advantage of that speed on the cuse carpet. their defense looks like it can be very good all around. with the problems over the summer with cuse and the low opening line has me suspicious that something isn't right. i might be over thinking it as my gut tells me minny will be better than most think. or maybe vegas just thinks this will be just another average minny team as years past. but i'm inclined to think vegas is wrong here and that we are getting a very soft line. i just wish minny would keep the offense "opened" up as i can't see syracuse staying anywhere near this number.

AGREE 100%.... The line seemed a little low to me to...kinda why i have not pulled the trigger....gonna wait about a week and see what it does....you have to think before game time everyone will be pounding Minny to make the line go up above a TD...But like you said Vegas might be giving us a gift for once !!

My guess is because they're opening a new outdoor stadium this year. Maybe they feel the spread attack would stall when colder weather hit in Oct. It seemed the spread attack they had was forming well for them - but the ground attacks they had with Barber/Maroney/Russel were when they were the most competitive in the Big 10. I also think the power game appeals to their recruiting demographic as well.

To the game though - I am also pretty surprised to see the line so low. But theres a few reasons it might be this low (going to keep it short but I can elaborate if need be)

-Syracuse returns a lot of talent at the skill positions
-Minnesota is introducing a new Offensive and Defensive Coordinator as well as a new offense which doesn't exactly cater to what they have.
-Keep seeing people say we had problems over the summer. Like what? Yes we had a lot of players transfer but most of them were 3rd/4th tier players and no starters. Of course that effects depth but I don't see that playing too much of a factor in the first game. Especially with the new summer strength and conditioning program (something former HC Robinson didn't do.) Many players were able to gain 10-20lbs of muscle since spring (measurments/tests/BMI were done last Monday.) Robinson also didn't allow tackling in practice in fear of injury (stupid!)
-Last years starting QB Cameron Dantley is now 3rd on the depth chart - and our 2nd string QB Andrew Robinson was moved to TE. That tells me that our QB play (Nassib or Paulus) will at least be better than it was last year...or Dantley and ARobinson wouldnt be where they are now.
-Minnesota's poor finish last year. Not to mention...their only impressive win was Illinois. They beat NIU,BG,FAU,Montana State,Indiana and Purdue. All teams Syracuse could have beat just as easily last year (even with as bad as we were.)

BEST OF LUCK THIS YEAR

Had a nice summer here in N. Country, only a few 90+ days, and for me that's akin to Heaven, HATE hot weather. As I always try to convince CoachLT. All the guys seem to be so convinced that the GG are scrapping Weber & Co, to go back to the glory days of Marion & Lawrence. Not so, w/Bennett returning I'm sure he'll run more than LY. But the bread & butter of this tm is stiil the Weber to Decker/Carpenter combo. Not to worry, tho I CAN see his future recruiting slanted more to the run. For obvious reasons. When Adam is gone & they have Gray in there, or someone like him they may revert to the past. And IF they do incorperate more running, that may not be such a bad thing. Considering they'll be leaving the passer friendly confines of the HH. It do get chilly here in Nov., and has been known to snow! GG 42 Cuse 24. BOL my Friend.

Here is something that people often mistake. Just because players are returning, does not mean that they are talented. Please show me someone "talented" enough on the Syracuse team to start for West Virginia or Pitt, much less a Top 10 team. On top of the lack of talent that Syracuse has, they have lost two starting LB's in Mele and Cantey.

The only reason why Minny would not cover this game is because they are looking ahead to opening their new stadium the following week. Syracuse is a team that will struggle to win 4 games this year.

Agree....I like to look at teams with players coming back at the Key Positions...How much experience they have coming back...Gophers have that this year, even if they try to run the ball a lot more...should work well for them...since they are so talented on the WR's. You are right Cuse should not win more than 4 this year.

WR Mike Williams - DT Arthur Jones - RB Delone Carter - CB/S Mike Holmes - OT Andrew Tiller

Mele and Cantey were not going to start. Only LB we lost who would have started this season was Flaherty (graduation.) Hines (JUCO transfer) was listed as a starter but lost his job to freshman E.J. Carter of Fla and left home bc he was "homesick" (from Cali.)

Not saying Minny isnt going to cover - I was surprised it wasn't 10-14 myself. Just trying to figure out why line is so low. I'll be there...place should be packed after hometown hero Paulus was named starter today (ugh.)

I think the line has more to do with the public's short memory than anything else. Everybody still remembers Cuse upsetting Notre Dame late in the season on national TV and Minny losing their last 5 in a row. This can be a big advantage for us bettors who actually know what is really going on with these two teams.

With what I've been reading I don't think many people know a thing as to whats going on with Syracuse.
