Hopefully nobody minds that I picked today to start my running NBA thread for this season. Yes its late but I've been busy busy and haven't really got to post on a consistent basis yet so maybe this will make it a little easier for me and everyone else who cares. Yup, all 3 of you guys!! :howdy: You're welcome my peeps. Good luck to everyone.....

Miami Heat & Dallas Mavericks Over 206
>>Maybe its just me but this looks like a dead over match-up here. Stats back up my feeling as well as the Heat have gone OVER 17 of the 24 total road games they've played thus far this season. Also, 9 out of 15 games between these two have gone OVER the number since 1996, including 4 of the last 5 the L3 seasons.
New Jersey Nets -2 at +102 vs. Chicago Bulls (Pinnacle)
>>Yes the Bulls have been scorching hot as of late but maybe that home loss to the Celtics the other day is a sign of things to come, which I'm thinking is them Chicago boys coming back to earth a little. NBA season's are very long and throughout the course of it each and every team goes through streaks, both high and low. This young Bulls team just might be ready for that tough patch after their amazing run so we'll see what they bring tonight. The Nets return home finally and thats a good thing for us tonight as they are 6-1 ATS this season when playing at home after 3 or more consecutive road games. And over the L3 seasons the Nets are a strong 7-2 both S/U and ATS versus the Bulls, including 4-0 at home.

3***
Minnesota Timberwolves -3.5 @ Milwaukee Bucks
>>See reasoning and stats below.
Minnesota Timberwolves & Milwaukee Bucks Over 192
>>Milwaukee is not very good and does not play nearly enough defense to stop the Wolves tonight, or any night for that matter as shown by the Wolves amazing 11-3 ATS mark versus the Bucks since 1996. Thus my play on the Wolves minus the points and the OVER on a surprisingly low number in my opinion. 3 of last 4 between these two have gone OVER and for what its worth?? Minnesota is 6-1 OVER this season when playing on Tuesday nights.

1*
Detroit Pistons -2 @ Washington Wizards
Detroit Pistons & Washington Wizards Over 188
Chicago Bulls & New Jersey Nets Over 189
Seattle Supersonics +7.5 @ Sacramento Kings (Betroyal)
Seattle Supersonics & Sacramento Kings Over 201.5

Denver Nuggets PK @ Portland Trailblazers
>>Should have played this earlier when it was +2 but you snooze you lose I guess. Oh well, don't think it's going to matter much. Nuggets playing inspired ball right now under new head coach Karl and they'll pull out the tough road win here. Denver is a strong 21-8 ATS versus these Blazers since 1996, including a 7-1 mark the L3 seasons.
Houston Rockets +1 @ Philadelphia 76ers
>>Just thinking the combo of Yao and McGrady is going to be a little too much for Iverson to handle. The Rockets are 5-1 ATS this season when underdogs of 3 points or less and are 6-1 ATS versus Philadelphia when playing in Philly. Also, the 76ers are a dismal 2-10 ATS the L3 seasons in a home game where the total is between 195 and 199.5 points. This one opened at 195.

3***
Dallas Mavericks & New Orleans Hornets Over 189 points
>>Dallas plays no defense and scores a lot, the Hornets should be good for at least 90 at home which I'm figuring is all we'll need from them here. The Mavericks have played at a 15-5 OVER clip the L3 seasons when playing a poor offensive team (avg.91 points or less a game).

1*
New Jersey Nets +6 @ Boston Celtics
Indiana Pacers -7 at -102 vs. Toronto Raptors (IIS)
Detroit Pistons -12.5 vs. Atlanta Hawks (Millenium)
Sacramento Kings & Golden State Warriors Under 196 points

Well my 3-star play on the Cavs goes down but all 4 of my 1-stars come in yesterday so at least I turned a little profit for my troubles. Today I'm looking forward to much bigger things. Let's all hope for it happens. Good luck to everyone.....

Dallas Mavericks & Indiana Pacers Over 189 points (CRIS)
>>We all know the Pacers are known for their defense but it's not like they're all that terrible offensively. In fact they average a decent 92+ points per game this season and being matched-up here against the scoring machine from Dallas, I don't see any reason why this game shouldn't go OVER this low total. The Mavericks are 24-10 OVER the last 3 season against Central Division opponents and 9 out of the last 15 games in this series have gone OVER the posted total.
Boston Celtics -3.5 at Even vs. Orlando Magic (CRIS)
>>Simple here. When playing at home, as they are tonight, the Celtics are a ridiculous 14-2 ATS versus the Magic since 1996. Nuff said!

3***
Washington Wizards +2.5 @ Toronto Raptors
>>Purely a stats and trends play on this one. The Wizards are 10-1 ATS this season versus an Atlantic division opponent and 8-3 ATS against the Raptors the last 3 seasons.
Houston Rockets +2.5 @ Minnesota Timberwolves
>>The Rockets have posted a 6-1 ATS mark this season when lined as a road dog of 3 or less points. On the flip side, the Timberwolves are 1-6 ATS this season after playing in 3 or more consecutive UNDER games.

1*
Boston Celtics & Orlando Magic OVER 208 points
Los Angeles Clippers +3.5 @ Milwaukee Bucks
New Orleans Hornets +5.5 @ Golden State Warriors
New Orleans Hornets & Golden State Warriors OVER 181 points

1*
Los Angeles Lakers & Detroit Pistons Over 184 points (CRIS)

Updating season record for any of those curious. I'd be having a really great year if it wasn't for my 3 star plays that are really killing me. Looking to turn that around in the coming weeks however. Good luck to everyone.....

Thank god All-Star weekend is done and over with. Now we can back to some serious business around here instead of having to watch a bunch of great players do nothing great, at all, the entire game! Anyways, good luck to everyone.....

Overall NBA Season Record To-Date: 39-32-5 for +8.32 Units

Atlanta Hawks & Sacramento Kings Under 202 points
>>I know the Kings will score in this one but the Hawks, well, I don't really see them scoring any more than 80-85 points which should give us a nice cushion to play with here. Lets just hope Stojakovic doesn't play (do they really need to play him here against the Hawks??) and the Kings pull their starters half-way through the 4th. Since 1996 these two teams have played UNDER 7 out of the 7 times they've met in Sacramento and 11 out of 15 UNDER when you throw in the games played in Atlanta.

3***
Toronto Raptors & New Jersey Nets Under 199 points
>>This total is way too high in my opinion. The last 6 times these teams have met the highest total set was just 184 and they went under that by a good 10 points. In fact over the past 3 seasons the UNDER is 8-2 when these teams play, including 4-1 UNDER at New Jersey.
Detroit Pistons -10 at -108 vs. New York Knicks
>>The Knicks are no match for this Pistons team that is peaking right now, having won 4 straight by a combined 85 points (an average margin of 21 points). Detroit is 4-0 ATS the L3 seasons versus New York at home.
Boston Celtics +3 @ Los Angeles Lakers
>>The Celtics are 5-1 ATS versus the Lakers in LA since 1996.
Boston Celtics & Los Angeles Lakers Over 204.5 points
>>Both teams will push the ball and make plays, and because neither plays defense very well at all. Since 1996 the OVER is 12-2 in this match-up, including 6-1 OVER at LA.

1*
New York Knicks & Detroit Pistons Over 183.5 points
Chicago Bulls +4 vs. Miami Heat
Miami Heat & Chicago Bulls Over 198 points
Houston Rockets -3 at -107 vs. Seattle Supersonics (IIS)
Sacramento Kings -14.5 at -106 vs. Atlanta Hawks (Pinnacle)

My apologies to everyone out there on a pretty horrible night. Nothing I can do but hope today brings it all back around. Good luck to everyone.....

Overall NBA Season Record To-Date: 43-38-5 for -3.15 Units
5* 7-3-1, +18.60
3* 12-20-2, -29.40
1* 24-15-2, +7.65

Wednesday 02/23/05
5*****
Chicago Bulls & Cleveland Cavaliers Over 196.5 points
>>The Bulls are 7-1 OVER both as a road underdog of 6.5 to 9 points this season and thus far in the month of February. Also, 3 out of the last 5 games played in Cleveland between these two teams have gone OVER the total.

3***
New Jersey Nets +3 @ Milwaukee Bucks
>>The Bucks shouldn't be laying points to anyone, especially the Nets who should come out strong here and atone for their bad showing at home last night.
Utah Jazz +5 vs. Dallas Mavericks
>>The Jazz are 4-0 ATS and 3-1 S/U against the Mavericks the L3 seasons at home.
Los Angeles Clippers +9.5 @ Phoenix Suns
>>The Suns have to show me they can cover a game, any game, this month before I'll even think about not betting against them. Till then this is far too much to give a good Clippers team that should stay close throughout. Phoenix is 1-7 ATS this month, including a current 0-6 run at the moment. The Clippers, meanwhile, have had success in Phoenix the L3 seasons going 3-1 both S/U and ATS there.

Well I'm back from my 2-week Hawaiian vacation and I'm ready to try something new to get me out of that stinky funk I was in before I left. Let's see how a positive & negative feedback/take/opinion on certain games by myself, and others if you so choose to write something, works out. I've never tried this before so don't be too harsh on me. Good luck to everyone......

>>Note: P stands for a positive point being made for the team I selected, N is a negative point<<

5*****
New York Knicks +2 vs. Seattle Supersonics
P1)Just by looking at this game and seeing this small point spread that the experts put out Seattle would have to be the OBVIOUS choice for mostly everyone. A Western Conference power at 41-19 versus the 26-34 disappointment in the weak Eastern Conference has to be a mis-match no matter where the game is being played right? Then why is the spread only 2 points?
P2)Numbers show a 77%-23% public siding on Seattle which reinforces my first point that this might be a trap situation.
P3)Seattle comes in cold having lost their last 3 games to the Suns, Rockets, and Bulls. All 3 losses were on their home-court.
P4)This is Seattle's first of three consecutive road games and they had to travel across country to get here.
P5)The Knicks have won 2 straight, both at home versus the Warriors and Wizards.
P6)Knicks are 6-1 ATS @ home versus Seattle in their last 7 tries.
N1)Knicks are inconsistent and you never really know what you're getting with a bet on them.
N2)Seattle is the much better team.
N3)Seattle plays in the much better conference.

3***
Los Angeles Clippers -2 at -107 vs. Chicago Bulls
P1)Clippers have been playing well on their home court.
P2)LAC is 5-1 ATS versus Atlantic Division opponents this season.
P3)LAC beat the Bulls in Chicago by 1 point on 11/13/04 which should give them confidence.
P4)Having the home team and only laying 2 points which basically just asks them to win to get the cover.
N1)Chicago has won 3 games in a row beating the Bucks by 5 at home, the Trailblazers by 13 in Portland and the Sonics by 3 in Seattle.
N2)Bulls are seeking revenge for the home loss I mentioned earlier.
N3)Small point spread which means the oddsmakers think the Bulls have more than a fair chance at the outright win. What was a positive can also be a negative for us as this shows.

1*
Seattle Supersonics & New York Knicks Over 196.5 points
P1)I believe this opened at 198 points so we get a free 1.5 points.
N1)Seattle has played 4 out of their last 5 games UNDER.

wow i wondered where ya had gone off too but hawaii is a great escape! how was it?welcome back and i love what you wrote here. i agree with your picks and following your logic on the sonics/ny game the opposite is likely on the pacers/cavs game.i believe i saw cavs-7 which is way too high in my opinion.should be 3.5 to 5. so maybe a good dog play there what do you think?
