Mavericks trade Andrew Bogut to 76ers for Nerlens Noel.

The Dallas Mavericks have traded center Andrew Bogut to the Philadelphia 76ers for forward Nerlens Noel, according to ESPN's Marc Stein and multiple reports. The Mavericks will also send Justin Anderson and a conditional first-round pick to Philadelphia, sources told ESPN.
Bogut told ESPN's Tim MacMahon that he is considering his options, including requesting a buyout if he's not traded to another team. Sources said the buyout is a strong possibility.
The Sixers, sources told Stein, are now working on a "landing spot" for Bogut in another trade.
If Philadelphia does not receive the Mavericks' top-18 protected draft pick this season, the pick converts to two 2nd-round choices in 2017 and 2018, sources told ESPN's Zach Lowe.
Bogut, a 12-year veteran who has started his entire career, was moved to the bench last month because the Mavs struggled with him playing next to Dirk Nowitzki.
Bogut is averaging 3.0 points and 8.3 rebounds in 26 games.
Noel, in his third NBA season, is averaging 8.9 points and 5.0 rebounds in 29 games. He clashed with the Sixers at times during his stay due to a logjam in the frontcourt that also included Jahlil Okafor and Joel Embiid.
The addition of Noel, 22, fits Dallas' dual goals of fighting for a playoff spot and preparing for a post-Nowitzki future.
Noel will be a restricted free agent after next season, which means the Mavericks can offer him more money/years than any other team. Dallas can also match any offer sheet.

No idea what sixers are doing. Justin Anderson is a player they might keep. Bogut will be bought out and not gonna be on the roster.

Looks like the Bulls are trading Doug McDermott to OKC for Andre Roberson and Cameron Payne.

Noel's probably going to get max $$ down the road, that's not something that was going to fit with Embiid, Simmons, and all the draft picks they still have coming. They had to dump Okafor or Noel(may still dump Okafor down the road), this was probably the best offer they got.

Hinkie > Colangelo

Two second rounders and Justin Anderson, who I actually think will be a decent wing at some point, for Nerlens Noel. I understand not wanting to pay him, but that isn't great value. Hope the shortsighted Philly fan base is happy.

I do admire BC's hustle of trying to make yourself look better by making the two 2nd rounders look like a "1st rounder". This is what happens when you let Jerry bring his kid along for the ride.

Not great move but let's not act like Hinkie was great here. He acquired assets while putting out an embarrassing product for his entire tenure.

I should say it like this, "the process" sucks in the short term, but it's absolutely the best way to go long term. The Colangelo method of overpaying mediocre vets doesn't work unless your goal is to compete for the right to get swept by GS/Cle in the first round each year. The new CBA adds even more validity to the Hinkie method. Unfortunately, Silver and the owners thought it was bad for the brand and forced him out.

Just doesnt seem like Hinkie was interested in turning assets into players. Colengelo is no genius either but I couldn't take Hinkie a minute longer here
