The Pacers will get home field if they get to the finals, that would make for an interesting 7 game series...It would be very difficult for any Western Conference team to close out Indiana in 5 games, therefore guaranteeing 6 and 7 back in Indy...I think if Indy is in the finals it going 7 this year.

I`m not 100% sold that they will get there though, since Wallace has come to Detroit they look very strong.

The real NBA season finally set to start!

here we go - once again with the same garbage we have heard spewed for some time.

the east has NO PRAYER in the finals. i am tired of hearing this every year at this time. we hear how the east has a great chance to win - and every year - the west rolls to an easy win.

i see ZERO reason why this year will be any different.

the thing to remember is the pacers play in the WNBA - which is the only way to describe the (l)eastern conference - where 2 teams UNDER .500 are assured of making the playoffs - and and as many as 4 - or HALF the conference.

to put it in even more explicit terms - the top TEN teams in the west would have a record good enough to make the (l)eastern playoffs while only FOUR would make it from the east into the west playoffs.

put the pacers in the west - and not only are they NOT the #1 ssed - they aren't even a top 4 seed - and probably no better than a 5 or 6 seed.

let me ask you this: of the top 4 seeds in the west - would you make indy a fave over ANY of them? if so - only 1 - and believe it, or not, it would be the #1 seed minny. put indy up agains sac, spurs, lakers - and the pacers - even WITH HCA - are at least $2 dogs - and if not - it would be the biggest steal in gambling history.

since going to the 2-3-2 format - no team has ever won all 3 of the middle games at home. that will change this year. the pacers will drop 1 of the first 2 at home (assuming they make it - a big IF - but IF they do) and then travel to the west winner - and drop all 3 (assuming there are 3 - the west culd sweep the east at the east's home).

i know this will not be the last we ever hear of this topic. i know come playoffs we will read many posts from posters saying "the east has a chance this season to win it all - and i think they will" and then these people will wonder what went wrong when their WNBA (east) champ gets run over by winner of the NBA (west).

repeat after me, boys and girls:

THE EASTERN CONF CHAMP HAS NO CHANCE TO WIN IT ALL THIS SEASON - NONE!

THE EASTERN CONF CHAMP HAS NO CHANCE TO WIN IT ALL THIS SEASON - NONE!

THE EASTERN CONF CHAMP HAS NO CHANCE TO WIN IT ALL THIS SEASON - NONE!

THE EASTERN CONF CHAMP HAS NO CHANCE TO WIN IT ALL THIS SEASON - NONE!

THE EASTERN CONF CHAMP HAS NO CHANCE TO WIN IT ALL THIS SEASON - NONE!

THE EASTERN CONF CHAMP HAS NO CHANCE TO WIN IT ALL THIS SEASON - NONE!

THE EASTERN CONF CHAMP HAS NO CHANCE TO WIN IT ALL THIS SEASON - NONE!

get the point!

What was the record for the Pacers vs the West? I believe it was quite favorable...

Not saying the West won`t win it...The Pacers have been strong vs the West and will be home and will be home for games 6 and 7...No way in hell they go out in 5 games.

Who are they playing Winky? Are you going to predict no one will beat LA too? These are always fun to look back on. I did pick UConn BTW, and Mickelson this weekend .

10/1 ain't bad. Way these teams in the West are playing right now is starting to make me think that maybe they are getting worn out from the punishment of such a tight race. Add in the bruising road to the finals and maybe Indiana with their home court finds a way to have a chance. I think the key will be an easy road for them, maybe the Pistons get knocked out early. If they can cruise while the other side is fighting out epic 7 game battles something shocking could happen.

don't care what their record is because during the season, the west teams fly into indy, play the game and then leave. they don't get as "up" for the game as they will in the finals while the pacers got "up" for those games.

who will win the west? ok - here is how i see it. i am not so sure the lakers didn't lose sunday on purpose. i am not saying they threw the game - just didn't try as hard as they could have. by losing sunday, the lakers will probably finish 4th in the west. this gives them a 1st round matchup with either memphis or dallass. memphis has zero playoff experience and dallass is scared to death of the lakers - so this one goes to the lakers w/o much trouble. i say the lakers did what they did sunday because if you privately ask them what team would they want to face in the 2nd round between sac, spurs, minny - i promise you it is unanimous - Minny! the lakers will take care of minny - in 6 (since G6 is in LA) while sac/spurs beat each other up - going as many as 7. who wins? not sure - but because i gotta give the lakers an opponent in the WC finals - i'll say suck-ramento wins it. this gives us another sac/lakers WC final. ok - so sac won the regular season mseries 3-1. come playoff time, we all know chris webber suffers from the "yips" and chokes - as does every other member of this team but bibby. i don't care if G7 is in sac - lakers win it there just like they did 2 years ago.

lakers and the wnba champ in the finals and for thr 4th time in 5 years - the nba championship is housed on the corner of 11th/figueroa in LA.

Looking forward to the 7 games L.A would play vs either S.A. or Sac., I couldn`t agree more...it would have been nice to see L.A. have to go thru both those teams back to back and as the road team...The other West teams,L.A. will handle with ease....
