</TD></TR><TR><TD vAlign=top colSpan=3>Kevin Martin said Thursday that he will sleep on a decision whether or not to have surgery on his broken left wrist, or simply put it in a cast, or to try to play through it.
Putting a cast on it would cost him anywhere from six to eight weeks, while surgery is a more certain bet to cost eight weeks. He played through the pain on Wednesday, and it appears the doctors are letting him call the shots, which is a good sign for his owners. That is, if there can be any good news with this situation.

</TD></TR><TR><TD vAlign=top colSpan=3>The Los Angeles Times is reporting on its Lakers Blog that Andrew Bynum (elbow) is going to miss Friday's game against the Grizzlies, as expected.
Expect Lamar Odom to have a big night as the Lakers' main frontcourt option. D.J. Mbenga should get the start in Bynum's place, and could be worth a look if you're real desperate.

Carter reinjured the ankle on Tuesday, and Van Gundy is second-guessing himself on whether he should have played him. "We probably shouldn't have played him in Detroit, but Vince said he wanted to go," Van Gundy said. Get him out of your lineups for now, and expect J.J. Redick to draw the start.

And again........

"It could take four weeks to heal," Harris said. "If I come back in two weeks and I still feel it, I’m going to take the next two weeks. We don’t have a date quite in mind." It looks like Rafer Alston will be starting for the next several weeks, and despite a terrible shooting slump, he looks like a starting fantasy point guard for the now.

Trevor Ariza - F - Rockets

Trevor Ariza left Thursday's practice with flu-like symptoms.
This immediately puts his availability for Friday's game into question, since if he has a fever the NBA will not allow him to play amidst concerns over the H1N1 virus. Kyle Lowry and Shane Battier, who will already benefit if forward Chase Budinger (ankle) misses the game, would be first in line for Ariza's minutes. Nov. 6

No word yet on whether or not he will play, but per league policy, he will need to remain quarantined for 24 hours, so consider him doubtful. If he can't go, Terrence Williams will likely start again in his place.

Tayshaun Prince - F - Pistons

As expected, Tayshaun Prince (back) will be out Friday night when the Pistons play the Orlando Magic.
This will be a rare miss for the consistent Prince, but expect a few more misses while his back recovers. Jonas Jerebko is expected to start in his absence. Nov. 6

Coach John Kuester wouldn't commit to either being available Sunday against the 76ers, but seemed encouraged by each player's progress. Friday, expect Rodney Stuckey and Ben Gordon to start in the backcourt, with Jonas Jerebko, Charlie Villanueva and Ben Wallace starting up front.

Josh Howard - G/F - Mavericks

Josh Howard and Tim Thomas practiced Friday, but neither is expected to play Saturday against the Raptors. Drew Gooden did not practice and will be out for Saturday's game.
Howard is recovering from off-season ankle surgery. "He's getting closer," Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said Friday, but added that the team has yet to decide when Howard will make his debut. With Howard, Thomas and Gooden out, the Mavs will need Erick Dampier to continue to produce. Nov. 6
