I am trying to figure out how people are liberal when it seems like all thier policies are a total waste of money and time.

I want this thread to be a serious discussion on what liberal policy has helped.

Depends upon what you mean by "worked".

Liberal policy has worked to a create a bigger government beauracracy.

It's worked by keeping people on the public dole.

It's worked to increase pay for labor unions regardless of how the business does.

It's worked to protect jobs for government beauracracy and labor unions regardless of how the worker does in their job.

The main argument lately that I've been hearing is that government spending worked in the 30's to cut unemployment down 5% per year from 25%.

The "liberal" (heh) idea of food stamps has helped to feed hundreds of millions of Americans in need over the past 40+ years, including Yours Truly for three months in late 1996.

How bout if we didn't have that. Are you saying we in this country would let people and kids starve to death. I think not.

If that program did not exist that could lower taxes and people would have more money to doante to charities and food banks.

Yeah right. Than do the libs not abide to it.

Double taxation. Gun rights....etc

The founding fathers would be rolling in thier grave if you told them this country sends money 2 times a month to people that decide to not work and live of the gov.

and countless free market charities (when you tax people less they have more to give) have doled out tons more free eatings to those in need (not just to americans) over the course of the history of the united states

and the liberals say well those damn greedy rich won't donate.....people too stingy today....

the warfare and "stinginess" between the classes occurs because the liberals want to tell people where they should spend their money....we take this money from you and give it to this person, or corporation, or whatever....

let people keep a llarge chunk of their money and not feel like they are being raped by the system and they will be more generous and willing to aid their fellow man

employment insurence just gives people something to fall back on so they don't save enough of their income for a rainy day (granted with all the taxation and such for many its hard in this day and age)

there will always be unemployed people and homeless people regardless of what system you chose to use....

plenty of bums still beggin for change even with all the welfare and protections

nothing is ever gonna fully remedy that

in the end socialism as far as economics go if you think about the large picture is so fatally flawed

in the end all you get is money circling around in a big circle

and at one point of the circle you have government getting involved overpaying people who manage this money to hand it out, to inefficiently spend it, and who does a poor job of figuring out who really needs it and who really is a bum that should be homeless on the streets due to the fact that they are well a bum and lazy, and what not.....

LOL King damn you.

I am not on unemployment yet. I am on the payroll til mid April.

If I need to I will file unemployment.

OK so we found 1.

Not sure how it is in the States but in Canada, if you jump through the hoops and prove that it would be worthwhile sending you to school, the Employment Insurance of Canada will pay for school. A couple friends went through to become plumbers and now make pretty sick money.

They pay for a proper trade school, not their own training.

LOL public schools. The liberal policies are what is killing the education in this country.

The Department of Ed is the biiggest waste of money. Notice all the teachers unions that vote for the liberals.

See anytime a whole profession votes only one way is not a good thing.

Teachers are a joke today. Make everything a charter school and make the schools compete for the kids. You want good schools and good teachers you make it like a business.

Min wage: Did you know that the UAW gets a raise everytime the min wage goes up. LOL Min wage hikes just put more people out of work.

Living wage....I love this little nugget . You are not supposed to depend on those types of jobs to raise a family on. You should not be expecting McDonalds to pay enough for people to live on. Its not what that type of job is. Want a living wage do what other people do and get educated or find a trade.

Seatbelts. I am an advocate of wearing seatbelts...I worked at a safety test lab. It has turned into a way for cities to make money.
Just like with a helmet laws if you don't want to wear one thats ok. Sign a waiver that you do not choose to wear one. But you are not eligable to collect any public money to help feed you with a straw if need be.

minimum wage helps walmart and the big corporations

and hurts small mom and pop businesses (which when they go under creates less jobs for the overall economy)

liberal logic is funny like that sometimes

the wal mart haters at the same time support policies that help the corporations they dislike

clean air...

been to any major metropolitan area these days

also the global warmists crack me up on this too

the very strict restrictions in the US in relation to the rest of the world is part of the reason many companies choose to manufacture abroad in china etc....not just the cheap labor

in china they pollute like madmen and release tons more CO2 emmisions than the US does...in addition i read due to air flows 1/3rd of the particulates in the southern california area are due to chinese factories etc...
