The Islanders have defeated the Blue Jackets six consecutive times and Friday night will make it number seven when the final buzzer sounds. New York has won their last three contests, including a dominating 7-2 victory over the powerful Maple Leafs on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, the Jackets were also busy putting a notch in the win column, a very rare occurrence indeed this year, with a 7-6 victory over the Capitals in DC. However, we should point out that Columbus is already eliminated from the playoffs and will likely wind up with the worst record in the league.
But that doesn’t mean they can’t win, it just means they don’t often win and against a stingy Islanders defense, currently ranked 5th in the NHL allowing just 2.7 goals per game, and possessing arguably one of the best goalies on the planet in Ilya Sorokin, I just don’t see an upset in the making in this one. So let’s lay it and like it with the Isles.
