Bobby Lancer NFL Analyst Handicapper, with DVAXN Group 25 NFL Football Outsiders ~[Cleveland OH] Chicago has failed to cover the spread in 14 of its last 18 games and the Bears have failed to cover the spread in four of the last five head-to-head versus Detroit. At the same time, Detroit has covered the spread in six of its last seven games and the Lions have covered the spread in eight of the last nine games played at home on Ford Field. Detroit is known for a tough defense but its offense led by Jared Goff and one of the NFL's best receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown will be too much for the Chicago defense, that is 26th against the pass, allowing an average of 248.2 yards through the air per game. It will be interesting to see how Fields holds up in his return. The team did win two of their three games on the year while he was out. Detroit's offensive playmakers piled up big numbers. Jared Goff threw for 333 yards and two touchdowns. Amon-Ra St. Brown caught eight of those passes for 156 yards and a score. The 1-2 backfield punch of David Montgomery and rookie Jahmyr Gibbs combined for 193 yards and three touchdowns. Detroit’s defense will be able to limit the Bears, who struggle to adjust in-game. They can defend the pass better than the Bears do, though both are solid against the run. St. Brown should have a field day against Chicago’s defensive backfield. Detroit is 6-1 ATS in their last seven games .________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Steve Davis NFL Analyst with DVAXN Group 25 NFL Football Outsiders ~[Cleveland OH] More importantly, the return of Williams on the offensive line seems to have settled Purdy. A settled Purdy is a dangerous Purdy. He was one of the top five quarterbacks in the NFL over the course of the league's first six weeks and he looked very comfortable in the pocket on Sunday against the Jags. The 49ers are third in the NFL in turnover differential this season. They have been a bit sloppy, however, ranked just 23rd in the league in penalties per game. The Bucs are next-to-last in the NFL against the pass so I expect the 49ers to set a game plan that features the pass setting up the run. I expect a strong start from the Niners receivers that will turn into a strong finish for running back Christian McCaffrey._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ NFL Capper, Harvey DeCarlo with DVAXN Group 25 NFL Football Outsiders ~[Cleveland OH]
While I believe the 49ers will win the game, a -670 price isn’t ideal as a straight bet or in a parlay. The 49ers’ hefty moneyline price makes the points a more desirable betting option. For the Buccaneers to have a chance on Sunday, they must run the ball effectively. Yards on the ground will be tough to come by against one of the best rushing defenses in the NFL. Tampa Bay can’t win a shootout with the 49ers, so their best bet is keeping San Francisco off the field. This is much easier said than done against one of the NFL’s best defensive fronts, which added Chase Young at the trade deadline. Young’s presence makes an already stacked group behind Arik Armstead, Javon Hargrave, and Nick Bosa much better. The Buccaneers have done their best to counter a slew of injuries upfront, but they don’t have a lot of talent on the offensive line.
Rookie guard Cody Mauch will anchor this group in the coming seasons, but he isn’t ready to lead yet. Tampa Bay’s offensive line will be a priority in the offseason as they will be outmatched by the league’s best front seven on Sunday. The 49ers allow just 83 rushing yards per game, the fourth-best in the NFL. We expect a minimal performance from Rachaad White and San Francisco to cruise to victory.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Handicapping information copied & pasted from DVAXN Group 25 NFL Football Outsiders ~[Cleveland OH] Intelligent Analysis of the NFL Compliments From ~Hårr¥THëHÄT~_
