My 28 year old son,who admitted to us he was an alcoholic over 2 years ago and hasn't had a drink since, has been training for last year and a half for this night and it was a very successful debut for him. Fighting at the 145 lb class, he took his opponent(a 3 time winner ) down about 30 seconds into the fight and stayed on top but was tied up with his opponent for the next minute. He was finally able to get his arms loose and pummeled his opponent with a flurry of punches until the ref stopped the fight at the 2 minute mark of 1st round. I'm a very proud Dad tonight...

I bet that fight against alcohol was/ is tougher than any opponent. Always good to hear that the father is around and supportive.

Good stuff, sir!

Mind me asking the name of the Fighting Organization ?

I take it he wants to continue? If you guys are ever interested in a free trip (travel, hotel, meals) to the Coast of SC for a fight, feel free to PM me.

I hate MMA, should be iilegal.

I regret to inform you that NHB (No Holds Bar) without gloves has now been passed in a few states. In fact, they've already had shows. Looking forward to promoting the first one here.

LONG LIVE MMA!! These stories come by the handful when folks let martial arts influence their lives.

Not sure what the organization is that promoted it. I did order a DVD of the entire card to give to my son so when it arrives it should say on the DVD so I will let you know then. Travis Browne was there and I understand he is one of the top UFC fighters so I'm assuming it was a pretty decent organization. My son said he met him last night at the weigh ins. This was his first fight and yes he will continue fighting.

Just my opinion. I just don't get why someone would want to see another person bloodied to a pulp?

I can't understand you......you seem like a reasonably intelligent person......why would you hijack this mans thread instead of starting a new one?

I understand and to be honest, I don't really enjoy watching MMA, but this was more about being proud of my son for accomplishing something he has worked very hard for the last 18 months. I would like to think if your son(or daughter) was doing something they trained hard for that you would be there to support them whether you liked it or not.

Exactly, people don't understand the sacrifice it takes to be a fighter. And beating someone to a bloody pulp isn't even what it's about. Anyways, some will never get it, and some are like WTF have I been missing and being so negative for all this time for after attending their first show as this shit is awesome!

I'm very happy for you and your son. I would not support my son if wanted to fight. That's just me. I wouldn't stop him, but wouldn't support it.
