Wow what a crazy day. Left Vandenburg AFB at about 9am drove down to LA to hit the hollywood park Casino to play poker before the night races at Hollywood Park.
Played at the 100 buy in 2-3 NL holdem. A nice steady grind got me to up to 250 about an hour into it. I then notice people being able to bet on the day races right from the poker table. You can even take chips off the table to bet. WOW now thats Utopia to me. I already bought a DRF so I was set. Started to play Churchill and Arlington Park.
Mean while at the table I give some back and than I hit a good hand. I'm on the button a couple people limp in I limp with Q,10o. SB makes it 10. BB calls another calls so I also call. Flop comes 10d-Qs-7d. SB leads out for 20. another guy raises to 40. I called ( yes I should have pushed I know) Next card is perfect a Q on the turn. SB bets out 60 the other guy calls and I figure they are committed to the pot at this point and think atleast 1 will me. So I push all in. SB says dammit you have Q 10. But I have to call. The aother guy goes in the tank and folds showing his cards A,J. Other kid flips up Ad, Qd for a flush draw and 3 Q's. So he is drawing to an A. nothing on the river and I scoop a nice big pot of about 400 and change. That was the only good pot I won. Later on I lost a $600 pot. that would have been bice but oh well.
I won in poker gave some back betting the ponies. So 7pm rolls around and I head to Hollywood to meet up with a fellow poster. Met him after the first race. We had a great night and won almost every race from there on. I picked 4 winners and hit the only exacta I played. Started with $10 bet and cashed out with $170.
Go back to the casino and play poker till about 3am. Dog tired I start my drive back to Vandenburg get back at about 5:30am and sleep for the day.
All in all what a great day of being a total degenerate and gambling my ass off. Doing my 2 favorite types of gambling. I only had to yell "runner" and a nice looking girl would come over and take my bet. How nice is that.
The poster I met is a great guy and has a lovely girlfriend and I hope to do this again. soon
