I used to go to www.411mania.com all the time with no problem. Then over a month ago, my computer would not be able to bring the site up. If I try it with firefox, I get a 3/4 load and then a "timed out" message. In IE, I get a "This page is unavailable...this site may be experiencing technical difficulties...can't find server or DNS error" message. I know I should be able to bring this site up, there's nothig wrong with it. i can't think of an upate that would have screwed everything up, especially for both firefox and IE to not be able to to it.

Any suggestions?

Try deleting all your temp internet files & if that doesn't do it, flush your cookies.

The site is up, BTW.

I should have mentioned, I already tried that. Didn't help.

Maybe it's a problem with Macromedia Flash? Are you up to date with Macromedia Flash?

I had the same thing happen to me until I read some threads here. Do a search here on theRX (or Google) for "hijack this". Some web sites prevent you from accessing competitor web sites. Hijack this will help you get rid of the BHO's (browser helper objects) that hijack your browser.

One word of caution, it is possible to delete helpful browser objects that could mess up your computer. Do a google search for any suspicious browser object before removing it to make sure it is a harmful one. Luckily, Hijack This has a way to undelete those objects that you have removed.
