Unless your going on a long trip going 80 vs 55 will saves you less than 5 minutes on your daily commute, plus more gas is used.

I hope you don't drive 55 when the speed limit is 65, that ain't cool.

If you want to go slow, drive the LIMIT, in the right lane, not 10 under, or you are a hazard, provided you can do the limit.

traffic flows when all are going at a fairly close speed . you can't have people going 50 and 90, 60 and 70, or 70 and 80 is OK.

Drive at the speed of traffic people, if you like to drive slow say 60-65, and your on a road where the traffic is moving good, drive 70-75 in the slow lane, just to keep pace with traffic, you won't get a ticket, if you're going 75 in a 65, and everybody else is at 80 +....it's safer this way.

The money it costs going faster to the time it saves? How much more do you think it costs? I would argue most people given the choice would gladly pay a few more dollars a trip in order to spend less time on the road. Time is money.
Moreover, the faster cars go the less time they are on the road. That has the effect of reducing congestion. Speed is good.

+1

Going 1 MPH would be the cheapest option. lets all just do that

My wife pisses me off when she drives, drives slow, OK

Say a two lane highway where 80 is reasonable, limit is 65, she gets behind somebody doing 55, pass the guy doing 55, you dumb bitch !

Arguement ensues , I violated the Prime directive....married a woman with children.

I lost my life via marriage, I'm done !

That act is getting Pretty Tired.

If you didn't want to be married, you would get a divorce.

I think we all know you're actually very happy to have your wife.

Amazing how many people have this little understanding of math?

So even when the car is sitting still it uses quite a lot of fuel. Cars get the very worst mileage at 0 mph; they use gasoline but don't cover any miles. When you put the car in drive and start moving at say 1 mph, the car uses only a tiny bit more fuel, because the road load is very small at 1 mph. At this speed the car uses about the same amount of fuel, but it went 1 mile in an hour. This represents a dramatic increase in mileage. Now if the car goes 2 mph, again it uses only a tiny bit more fuel, but goes twice as far. The mileage almost doubled!

i like to use the shake and bake method.

the best is getting behind a big ass tractor trailer that's going 75mph.

cuts down that drag.

i'd drive 100 mph if i thought it were safe.

we are all dying. everyone of us. we only have so much time on earth.

when i'm on my death bed, i'm not gonna say, "boy I sure wish I woulda drove slower and spent more time in my car and less time doing the things I love"

I say , fuck the speed limit, entirely ! Conditions can be good enough to go 100 ( safely), or bad enough where 30 is too fast.

Tough to ticket that way though....max speed of 65 ( or whatever) is ridicurous.

What if I'm a Nascar driver with a new BMW, I'm safe at 150 MPH, but if I'm a redneck with a lifted truck, or such, 70 is more like it.

Can't have guys going 150 and 70 , on the same road..traffic flows much better going about 65-90 mph, even better at 70-80, a nice tight range works best. IMO. No guys going 95, no women going 60, just drive about 75, all is cool !
