got this article emailed to me by a friend who got it off scout.com i think, interesting when you put each teams resume on paper

BTW, I'm using the coaches poll because that's what the B(C)S uses (and I refuse to acknowledge that the Harris Poll should count for anything).

#2 OKLAHOMA
Top 10 wins: vs. Texas Tech
Top 25 wins: vs. Cincinnati, vs. TCU
That 1 Loss: vs. Texas (neutral)
Their case: Not bad, considering their big wins (though all were at home) and the big margin over Texas Tech ... but still, they lost. To TEXAS. On a neutral field.
#3 FLORIDA
Top 10 wins: None
Top 25 wins: vs. Georgia (neutral)
That 1 loss: vs. Mississippi
Their case: Why are they #3 again? They have no wins against top 10 teams, the fewest against top 25 teams and the worst loss record-wise, plus that loss was at HOME. I guess it all boils down to how they get a shot at #1 Alabama (a shot any of these teams would have if there were a playoff) and running up the score on an overrated SEC, so it's all based on what might happen???
#4 TEXAS
Top 10 wins: vs. Oklahoma (neutral)
Top 25 wins: vs. Oklahoma State, vs. Missouri
That 1 loss: at Texas Tech
Their case: Pretty solid - though they don't really have a big win on the road, their loss came on the last play of the game in a hostile environment in prime time. Plus they BEAT OKLAHOMA.
#5 USC
Top 10 wins: vs. Ohio State
Top 25 wins: vs. Oregon
That 1 loss: at Oregon State
Their case: Respectable, given the big win over OSU and overall dominance. Plus that loss that looked so bad early has looked better each week. Still, lack of big wins hurts the Trojans.
#6 PENN STATE
Top 10 wins: at Ohio State
Top 25 wins: vs. Michigan State, vs. Oregon State
That 1 loss: at Iowa
Their case: Perhaps the best of the bunch - they are the only one to have a top 10 win on the ROAD, the only one to beat TWO potential BCS teams (unless you think Tech still has a shot, then OU is there) and their loss was on the last play of the game, on the road, in bad weather to a surging team (with the same record as Ole Miss).
#8 TEXAS TECH
Top 10 wins: vs. Texas
Top 25 wins: vs. Oklahoma State
That 1 (big) loss: at Oklahoma
Their case: Hurt big time by the rout in Norman (but computers don't look at running up the score, right?) and the lack of a big win outside of Lubbock under the Lights.

Article is based off current top 25 rankings thats ridiculous cause Florida beat LSU, UGA when they were ranked ahead of them.So if Florida kills bama then what happens to this theory since Bama will be #1 at that time? on a neutral field?
Texas Beat OKLAHOMA! ok st and Missouri
Penn state OSU top 10 then
USC OSU when they were in the top 10
Texas Tech overated caught up to them. Have always played well at home but terrible on the road

Not taking anything away from anyone except the last three but there is still 2 weeks to play. All have to win this weekend. Then play Next week in there confrence championships which is something PSU/USC cant say

I am no fan of the Little 10 conference but Penn St. has to be pissed that they are getting dissed so badly. They are a solid team for the most part. If Texas doesn't get to the Big12 title game it will be a travesty.

I see what you are saying about florida beating LSU and Georgia... however regardless of what they were "ranked" when they played, they turned out to be frauds, i dont think lsu is in it anymore and georgia has got destroyed in every game they played against good football teams

thats why i personally dont think that there should be ANY rankings until AT LEAST week 6, when you can see what teams are doing and not just hyping teams up...week 8 would probably be better

this year is the epitome of why college football needs to go to a playoff system, i am a HUGE fan of bowl games and i am ALL FOR keeping them, however take the top 8 in the BCS rankings and lets settle this on the field... no tie-ins, no automatic bids, top 8, lets do this

I agree :toast:, But the greed in CFB will prevent that from happening.

I agree, preseason rankings are worthless. LSU was still ranked in the mid teens despite getting blown out twice--the only reason for this is because they were so over-hyped in those ealy rankings that it took several severe ass-kickings to finally get them out of the top 25. They were obviously drinking their own kool-aid, which is why they are laying down like a $5 hooker now--they perceive that their season is a major disappointment although the truth is that they were never good enough to be a contender anyway.

Florida definately most deserving 1 loss team :toast:

Why? i am not going to sit here and say that florida isnt a great football team, but why? they lost AT HOME to ole miss....have beaten noone in the top 10 and their only win against a top 25 team is again a georgia team who is a complete fraud and that was proven on the field

once again, im not arguing the fact that florida is a great football team, but when you look at the resume, florida may be the LEAST deserving...

once again, we need a playoff in college football, could you IMAGINE how GREAT a playoff would be this year?

The SEC was just WAY over hyped this year. The Vols were in the top 20, Auburn was like 10, UGA #1, and LSU top 10 also. That is some funny shit looking back :missingte
