Here comes the first game of three that will be posted. The game is between Northeastern and UTEP. In typical Northeastern fashion they turned down this game to be played at their place and will instead head to play at UTEP. You might wonder why in the heck would anybody do that. The simple answer is money because Northeastern didn't want to pay a hosting fee and they only average about 2,000 fans per home game. However, I got another reason and a theory on Northeastern: Northeastern likes to play in hostile arenas with atmosphere because their own home arena is super-boring. Let's take a look at Northeastern at Home and at Road real quick. Northeastern is 11-6 on the ROAD and 7-5 at Home. Furthermore, let's look at the places Northeastern has won at. They have won at Providence (which Pittsburgh couldn't do) at Indiana (lousy this year, but still impressive road win for mid-major)
at Wright State (Bracketbusters) at Virginia Commonwealth (very impressive) at Old Dominion (another very hostile place) at Wyoming (another tough place) at Drexel (another tough conference road win). This is one of the few teams that I say loves the road more than home. UTEP's home court advantage is good and is around the same level as the teams on the list above. Furthermore, UTEP comes in OFF a SU Dog Win at Nevada and now finds themselves favored by 8. I think Northeastern will try to slow down the game (Northeastern's style) because of UTEP's ability to run. Hopefully, they will play a slow, physical-style, grind-out game and keep hanging around and hanging around.
