Monday night football.... Trap game for bettors...????

Certain sites I trust show power ratings that say philly is considered 11 points better than carolina. So why then did vegas open the lines at 5.5-6 in favor of philly (at home )when they are supposedly 11points better on a neutral field ???? Here's what I'm thinking... Vegas knows an overwhelming majority of the public back the favorites no matter what. Even more so at home and almost religiously when it's a Monday night game at home! See where I'm going here..... Yeah carolina has an atrocious defense and their offense is sputtering and inconsistent, but mark Sanchez is now the starting qb for the Eagles.... Let that sink in for a second.... This is the same mark Sanchez known forever for his espn butt fumble... The guy is a capable backup qb in the NFL, but is he good enough to win you a game, better yet, run away from a team by lighting up the scoreboard...? I don't think so, and let's be honest, he is a turnover machine. I believe Vegas likes the panthers to cover here. Maybe even win as ridiculous as that may sound. Carolina will get back 3 starting offensive linemen they've been playing without, and that's HUGE. Kelvin Benjamin is a mismatch against any team and I believe both teams will lean on their running games heavily which could keep things close for most of this game. I don't like this line one bit either way as it seems vegas has some serious inside information. I may be dead wrong but I would tread carefully if you go with Philly and lay a touchdown against a panthers team getting healthy.

As as for me I'll let the line charge by the publics backing and see if I can steal the panthers around +7.5 or higher.
Dont tail me or criticize my pick, just do your own research before you bet. I'm definitely not wagering much because of the odd line. BOL to everyone

Dirty Sanchez will be fine. This is an offensive system that even Geno Smith may do alright in so don't read too much into who the Eagles QB is. I may just ML parlay them with either Cleveland or Chicago in the NBA tomorrow night.

Relax dude, it's just my opinion your a classic case of someone who overreacts to everything when it doesn't line up with your beliefs and philosophy on a game. It's ok to disagree, just do your own research. If you like the eagles that much with Sanchez at qb in a Monday night game making his first start since 2012 then lay down the coin big guy and put your money where your mouth is.... I'm not betting much at all because I don't trust this game.... If I miss an easy winner with the Eagles then oh well, onto the next one. Bol torpedo

I realize that a lot of people get frustrated with the term "trap game". But, if you don't think that the lines makers don't use some psychology in setting their lines, then you are cheating yourself. In yesterday's Steelers/Jets game, Vegas Insiders shows the line opened at Pitt -1.5. For most books though, it was opened around -4 to -5.5. The Steelers were off of two of their best games this season with Big Ben throwing for 12 TD's. The Jets only had 1 win all season. A lot of bettors were licking their chops to throw some sheckles on the Steelers. But, when I see a line set that low on a team coming off of some big wins, it throws up a red flag for me. I stay away from these types of games or just play the dog because Vegas has "set a trap".

The Eagles give up a lot of points. Will Sanchez be able to put up enough points to cover this line? We will know soon enough but, I don't think so.

Just my opinion but, typically the linesmakers this late in the season won't set a bad or soft line. I feel that the bet tonight should be Car +7 or no bet. Good luck in whatever you decide to do!!

One other thing I noticed was that besides the Jax game, Philly has never been favored by this much. All of a sudden with the back up QB in, the Eagles become such a better team that they become a touchdown favorite?????? Seems fishy to me.

With Saints losing it put Carolina right back in the hunt for the South if they win. I'm not saying they win the game and it would be hard for me to put money on the head but I do think they come to play tonight.

The computer group is a smart guy and has some great picks. So I respect his opinions, but Frankie cat brings forth exactly what I was referencing. Saintsfan also brought in a motivation factor with panthers. I love picking games based on momentum, motivation, and other intangibles, rather than stats..... But that's just me. I still look at stats but I don't base my decisions off them, then again everyone is allowed to bet as they please. Vegas has bitten me twice with lines like this and now I'm catching on, or so i think lol!!! I'll probably be wrong and the Eagles will win by 20+ and if they do so what, it's one bet. I just don't like lines like this for the favorites. My biggest point of emphasis is that mark Sanchez is not an elite qb and I know chip Kelly's system allows his QBs success because of the run game and short passes, but it concerns me still that Sanchez is taking the snaps. His career has been a letdown to say the least and maybe this game he will turn it around. Personally I don't think he will, and of the panthers come out motivated, which they should now, they could very easily control the clock and the flow of the game with their rushing attack behind a now healthy line... Philly doesn't exactly shut teams out either lol. They give up points, which to a struggling panthers team may just kickstart their offense.... Like I said before, bet what you want to bet and best of luck to all, i don't want vegas to beat anyone lol
