KEY STAT: Chile have scored two goals or more in 15 of their last 17 matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Only a 100 per cent record will be enough seal top spot in Group B for Chile but they have every chance of beating Holland in Sao Paulo. Chile were superb against Spain – defensively and offensively – and their slick passing and movement may be too much for the Dutch, who are missing the suspended Robin van Persie.

RECOMMENDATION: Chile

KEY STAT: Australia have scored in six of their last seven matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Spain have looked nothing like the side which has won three major tournaments and are by no means guaranteed to beat Australia in their final match. The Socceroos have played with lots of energy and spirit and can get some overdue reward by holding the Iberians to a draw.

KEY STAT: Brazil have kept clean sheets in seven of their last nine matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Cameroon have failed to score a goal in their opening two games and are unlikely to make much of an impression against Brazil in their final match. However, Brazil, who are battling to top the group, have looked an ordinary side and are unlikely to run riot against a Cameroon team playing for pride.

RECOMMENDATION: Brazil 2-0

KEY STAT: Mexico have scored just one goal in their last four matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Niko Kovac said his Croatian players might as well give up after poor refereeing decisions cost them against Brazil but they responded suoerbly against Cameroon and can beat Mexico in Recife. Mexico deserved their 0-0 draw against Brazil but may lose out to the classy Croats, who have better players in the attacking third.

Cameroon v Brasil

[h=2]2014 FIFA WORLD CUP[/h]
  • Venue: Estadio Nacional, Brasilia
  • Date: Monday 23 June
  • Kick-off: 21:00 BST
[h=2]TEAM NEWS[/h]Alex Song is suspended for Cameroon following his sending off for elbowing Croatia's Mario Mandzukic in the back.
Benoit Assou-Ekotto headbutted team-mate Benjamin Moukandjo in that match and is unlikely to play, while Samuel Eto'o (knee) remains doubtful.
Brazil forward Hulk has overcome a thigh problem.
The quartet of Neymar, Thiago Silva, Luiz Gustavo and Ramires will trigger a one-match ban if booked for the second time in this tournament.
[h=2]MATCH PREVIEW[/h]It is Cameroon, not Brazil, who go into this match in disarray, although the hosts have arguably endured more critical analysis in the World Cup so far.
Brazilian newspapers lamented the "horror show" of the national team'sgoalless draw with Mexico last time out and the fact this is "their worst start since 1978". These things are relative, of course - most sides would be more than content with a return of four points from two games.
However, it is true to say that Brazil have yet to find their rhythm. First-team regulars Julio Cesar and David Luiz, among others, admit that Brazil have been unable to impose themselves like they did during last summer's Confederations Cup simply because the opposition are now set up to stifle them.
"This is a tough group, but that's great for us," added Cesar. "We prefer to play against these sides and face these difficulties because it gets you focusing right from the start, which is important in short-term competitions."
It would obviously be a seismic shock if Brazil failed to progress beyond the initial group stage for the first time since 1966. A draw will be enough to take them through to a second-round clash with either Chile or the Netherlands, and they would even progress even in defeat, as long as Mexico beat Croatia in the group's other game.

Cameroon would appear ill-equipped to cause an upset. A row over player bonuses overshadowed their build-up to the finals, and Volker Finke's side have lost both of their games so far without scoring.
The antics of some of their players in the 4-0 defeat by Croatia - when Alex Song elbowed an opponent in the back and Benoit Assou-Ekotto head-butted a team-mate - has prompted an investigation from the country's football federation.
"It's unacceptable to see that kind of thing," admitted Finke, adding. "There have been some situations where we have lacked concentration and we also lacked a finishing touch against Croatia but we can do better against Brazil."
[h=2]MATCH FACTS[/h]Head-to-head

  • Cameroon lost their first three matches against Brazil without scoring a goal, but they won the fourth - and most recent - meeting in the 2003 Confederations Cup with a Samuel Eto'o goal. Cameroon are the only African side to have beaten Brazil in a senior international match.
  • Brazil won 3-0 when they met at the 1994 World Cup.
Cameroon

  • Cameroon have lost their last six World Cup matches - the longest ever losing streak by an African country. They have only won one of their last 15 games in the tournament (D4, L10).
  • This is the fifth successive time they have been eliminated in the group stage, and sixth occasion in seven World Cups overall.
  • The Indomitable Lions have gone 13 consecutive World Cup matches without scoring more than one goal since a 2-2 draw with Sweden in 1994. The only longer such streak in World Cup history is 18 by Uruguay, set between 1970 and 2002.
  • Cameroon failed to score in their first two group games - they have never been knocked out of a World Cup without managing a single goal.
  • Samuel Eto'o has scored Cameroon's last three World Cup goals.
Brazil

  • This is Brazil's 100th World Cup match. They are the second team to reach the milestone - Germany did so in their opening match at this World Cup.
  • The goalless draw with Mexico last Tuesday ended a 10-match winning streak for Brazil.
  • They have not failed to score in successive World Cup matches for 40 years since losing 2-0 against the Netherlands and 1-0 against Poland in 1974.
  • Their only defeat in the last 23 games came against Switzerland last August (W17, D5, L1).
  • Brazil are now unbeaten in 39 successive matches on home soil, with their last defeat coming against Paraguay in August 2002.
  • They have lost only one of their 35 World Cup matches in the group stage since 1970 (W27, D7).
  • Brazil have only twice failed to advance from the group stage: in 1930 and 1966.

Croatia v Mexico

[h=2]2014 FIFA WORLD CUP[/h]
  • Venue: Arena Pernambuco, Recife
  • Date: Monday 23 June
  • Kick-off: 21:00 BST

[h=2]TEAM NEWS[/h]Croatia head coach Niko Kovac could recall Mateo Kovacic in place of Brazil-born midfielder Sammir, one of the few players who failed to impress in the 4-0 win over Cameroon.
The team is likely to be otherwise unchanged for a game that Croatia will probably need to win to qualify.
Mexico boss Miguel Herrera has suggested he will go with the same line-up for the third game in a row.
Hector Moreno, Jose Vazquez and Paul Aguilar are one booking from a ban.
[h=2]MATCH PREVIEW[/h]While Mexico are vying to reach the last 16 for the sixth successive World Cup, Croatia have not advanced to the knockout stage since their debut in 1998, when they reached the semi-finals.
Croatia go into Monday's game a point behind their opponents and, with group leaders Brazil expected to beat Cameroon, only a win will guarantee the Croatians a place in the last 16.
"The match against Mexico will be like a final," Kovac said. "Mexico are strong, but so are we. The Mexico players are very patriotic, just like us, and they have a great team spirit.
"They play some aggressive football with a lot of pressing. They are strong going forward, but also have some weaknesses in defence, like Brazil showed us."

Mexico have given themselves a superb chance of qualifying after following up their opening win over Cameroon by holding hosts Brazil to a draw. Another point would be enough to put Mexico through.
However, Miguel Herrera insists his attack-minded side will be vying for the win which could see them progress as Group A winners.
"The guys know that they can squander the great things that they've been doing in this World Cup if they don't play to win on Monday," Herrera said. "If you think going into the game you're going to tie, you're most likely just going to lose.
"Croatia have to win so we're going to go out there and defend, and take advantage of the spaces that they're going to leave open because they're attacking."
[h=2]MATCH FACTS[/h]Head-to-head

  • Croatia lead the head-to-head series by two wins to one. Both of those wins were in friendlies, whereas Mexico's sole victory came in the 2002 World Cup courtesy of a Cuauhtemoc Blanco penalty.
  • That 2002 meeting was the first of six World Cup matches played by current Croatia head coach Niko Kovac.
Croatia

  • Croatia won for the first time in six World Cup matches against Cameroon.
  • Their only defeat in seven matches under Niko Kovac came against Brazil in the tournament's opening match.
  • They have been eliminated in the group stage in four of their last five major tournaments. The exception was Euro 2008, when they reached the quarter-finals.
  • Mario Mandzukic was Croatia's four-goal top scorer in World Cup qualifying. He has scored 12 goals in his last 28 caps.
Mexico

  • Mexico have reached the knockout stage in each of their last six World Cup appearances dating back to 1986. However, they did not play in the 1990 tournament.
  • They have not kept three successive clean sheets at the World Cup since 1986, when they defeated Iraq 1-0, Bulgaria 2-0 and drew 0-0 with West Germany in the quarter-finals before losing on penalties.
  • Mexico can become the first nation to lose 25 World Cup matches. They have lost 24 of their 51 games.
  • Oribe Peralta has scored eight goals in his last six competitive appearances for Mexico.
  • Javier Hernandez is equal third on Mexico's list of all-time goalscorers with 35 goals. However, he has failed to score in his last 11 international matches for Mexico, his longest goal drought.

Australia v Spain

[h=2]2014 FIFA WORLD CUP[/h]
  • Venue: Arena da Baixada, Curitiba
  • Date: Monday 23 June
  • Kick-off: 17:00 BST

[h=2]TEAM NEWS[/h]Australia midfielder Tim Cahill misses this game as he is suspended after picking up two bookings.
Striker Adam Taggart could take his place, while Ben Halloran and Oliver Bozanic are pushing for starts.
Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque is expected to make a host of changes now his side are out, so inexperienced players such as Koke could start.
Gerard Pique is a doubt with an adductor muscle problem, while David De Gea has a buttock muscle injury.
[h=2]TEAM PREVIEW[/h]Many predicted that this tournament would spell the end for one of the finest teams football has ever seen, but even Spain's biggest doubters could surely have not foreseen their empire crumbling quite as spectacularly as it has.
The reigning champions have conceded seven goals in losing to the Netherlands and Chile , which is one more than they did in winning Euro 2008, World Cup 2010 and Euro 2012 combined.
It's been a seismic fall from grace and we may now have seen the last of captain Iker Casillas, and midfield greats Xavi Hernandez and Xabi Alonso on the international stage.
The future of Vicente Del Bosque will be a hot topic once the final whistle blows in this game. The Spanish FA want the most successful coach in their history to stay, but as Alonso put it "eras end with defeats" and it would not be a surprise if he decided to walk away.
They will be playing in black in this match, instead of their usual vibrant red, which further adds to the funereal air in the Spanish camp.
As for Australia, they may have lost both games but their performance against Chile and the Netherlands hinted at a very bright future indeed, making a mockery of those who predicted they would be thrashed out of sight.

Ange Postecoglou's young guns actually led the Dutch twice before finally succumbing. Win or lose here, the lowest-ranked side in the tournament have won many admirers.
Inspirational forward Tim Cahill is suspended for this match but is confident his side can cope without him and get a victory he feel his side deserves.
"We've got one more game to go and it is not about Tim Cahill," said the New York Red Bulls veteran.
"This last game is massive. If we beat Spain that will be one of the biggest moments in Australian history."
[h=2]MATCH FACTS[/h]Head-to-head

  • This will be the first meeting between Australia and Spain.
  • Australia need a draw to finish above the Spanish.
Australia

  • Australia have only won one of their seven World Cup games against European opposition (2-1 v Serbia in 2010).
  • Tim Cahill has scored five of Australia's 11 World Cup goals but is suspended for this game.
  • The Socceroos have conceded in each of their last nine World Cup matches, shipping two or more goals in five of those games.
Spain

  • Spain have never lost all three games in a World Cup group.
  • This is the fifth time the reigning champions have exited in the group stage. They follow in the footsteps of Italy in 1950, Brazil in 1966, France in 2002 and Italy in 2010.
  • In his 126 minutes of World Cup action so far, Diego Costa has failed to muster a single shot on target (only five shots in total). Goalkeeper Iker Casillas had nine touches more (30) than Costa (21) against Chile.
  • Against Chile, Spain posted their lowest passing accuracy in a World Cup game (81.7%) since their quarter-final defeat to South Korea in June 2002 (78.7%).
  • Andres Iniesta is expected to win his 100th cap.

Netherlands (Holland ) v Chile
[h=2]2014 FIFA WORLD CUP[/h]
  • Venue: Arena de Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo
  • Date: Monday 23 June
  • Kick-off:17:00 BST

[h=2]TEAM NEWS[/h]Netherlands striker Robin van Persie serves a one-match ban after picking up two bookings.
They could also be without defender Bruno Martins Indi, who suffered concussion against Australia.
Chile head coach Jorge Sampaoli might leave out midfielders Arturo Vidal and Charles Aranguiz.
The pair have both been nursing injuries and each have a yellow card to their name, so another booking would rule them out of the next match.
[h=2]TEAM PREVIEW[/h]From the moment the draw was made this fixture had long been pencilled in as the match to decide who finished second in Group B behind Spain.
However, the reigning champions have been spectacularly dethroned and now this game will still determine who finishes second, but also who tops the group.
That carries huge significance as whoever finishes runners up out of Chile and the Netherlands will face the winner of Group A, most likely the hosts and tournament favourites Brazil.
So there is all to play for in Sao Paulo and it's a clash that looks set to guarantee goals, given their respective performances so far.

Chile were superb against the Spanishand showed everyone exactly why they were rated as one of the tournament's dark horses. Their aggressing pressing and lightening quick attacks were a joy to watch.
Questions marks had been raised about their defence, but a back three of Gonzalo Jara (who was released by Nottingham Forest at the end of the season) and two midfielders in Gary Medel and Francisco Silva (who were relegated with Cardiff and Osasuna respectively), were superb.
Both coaches, Louis van Gaal of the Netherlands and Chile's Jorge Sampaoli, are two of football's most wily tacticians and it will be fascinating to see them go head-to-head.
They could both be without influential players though. Chile midfielders Arturo Vidal and Charles Aranguiz may not be risked, while the Netherlands are without suspended skipper Robin van Persie after he picked up his second booking of the tournament in the win over Australia.
This means, according to Dutch media, Monday's game will be the first time since they played a friendly against China in 1996, some 221 matches ago, that they will not have a player with 'Van' in his name in the team.
[h=2]MATCH FACTS[/h]Head-to-head

  • This is only the second meeting between these sides. Netherlands won their only previous clash by the drawing of lots after a 2-2 draw during the 1928 Olympic tournament.
Netherlands

  • The Netherlands have lost only two of their 11 World Cup games against South American opposition - in the 1978 final against Argentina (1-3 after extra-time) and the 1994 quarter-final against Brazil (2-3).
  • The Dutch have won three of the last four World Cup games in which they've gone behind.
  • Netherlands are attempting to take nine points from the group stage for the second World Cup in a row.
  • They have not lost a World Cup group game since 1994.
Chile

  • Chile have won four of their last six World Cup games, having failed to win any of their preceding 13.
  • They have only won two of their last 11 World Cup matches against European opposition.
  • Chile have never won three successive World Cup games within the same tournament.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES

The Walker Group Picks

# 8 STEPHEN'S EVEN 7/2

# 6 TAKE ME AWAY TODAY 6/1

# 3 HIT YOUR STRIDE 20/1

I've got to go with STEPHEN'S EVEN. Put up a solid Equibase Speed Figure last time out. Very strong jock and trainer combo winning 17 percent of their races working together. Have to think this horse will do well following the quick return to the track. TAKE ME AWAY TODAY - Schoeneman has this mare moving well and is a respectable choice based on the competitive Equibase Speed Figures posted in sprint races recently. Had one of the top Speed Figures of this field in her last race. HIT YOUR STRIDE - Could go off at a nice price and has some positives going for her.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES

The Walker Group Picks

# 5 HOT AUTHORIZATION 5/1

# 3 STRAIGHT MARTINI 7/2

# 2 MOONWALKIN DYNASTY 2/1

HOT AUTHORIZATION seems to be the bet in here. With Leos on top him, this colt will most likely be able to break out sharply in this competition. Must be carefully examined - I like the figures from the last outing. His chances to score are much better this time around facing this easier field of horses. STRAIGHT MARTINI - Could beat this field given the 57 speed rating garnered in her last outing. Will make a good outing versus this bunch. MOONWALKIN DYNASTY - Opposing a much softer field of horses than last time out. Overall, has one of the best earnings per start in short races in this field of horses.

#4 LUCKY LUMINAIRE (ML=5/1)
#5 BURST OF FIRE (ML=8/5)

LUCKY LUMINAIRE - Really have to figure this race horse is going to be on the money at the finish line. BURST OF FIRE - This jockey and trainer's animals have been generating a lucrative return on investment.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 EMEIS (ML=3/1), #1 IL MANGIA TROPPO (ML=4/1), #6 ELAINE AND LARRY (ML=8/1),

EMEIS - This gelding is always close, but just doesn't get the job done. Hard to wager on him on the win end. Should be difficult for this racer to beat this group off of that last speed rating. Doubtful to improve enough to run a figure close to today's class rating, so put him on the possibly overvalued equines list. IL MANGIA TROPPO - I'm prognosticating a less than stellar go of it out of him this time around. ELAINE AND LARRY - Don't believe this runner will make a winning move in today's event. That last speed figure was pedestrian when compared with today's class rating.

#1 HENGROEN (ML=3/1)

HENGROEN - Gelding looks like the lone speed here. He may turn the race into a procession. Last out, this one was in a race at Suffolk Downs in a race with a class number of 74. Dropping drastically in class figure this time around puts him in a solid position right here in this race.

Vulnerable Contenders: #4 EL CHAPARRO (ML=2/1), #6 ON THE THRONE (ML=5/2), #5 VINNY THE EMPEROR (ML=5/1),

EL CHAPARRO - Don't think this vulnerable equine will make an impact in today's race. That last speed rating was quite unimpressive when compared with today's Equibase class figure. ON THE THRONE - Last ran on May 26th at Suffolk Downs, finishing fifth. Unlikely to improve off of that outing in today's race. I cannot play this frequent non-winner. Gets the job fulfilled occasionally. VINNY THE EMPEROR - Will probably be far back with too much to do in the homestretch. Don't think this less than sharp equine will make an impact in today's event. That last rating was common when compared with today's class rating.

Northfield: Monday 6/23 Analysis + Pick Four ticket
By Jeremey Day

DRF HARNESS

Race 3 - $10,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool

Race 8 - $10,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Jeremey’s $1 Pick Four Play:

1,3,4 / 3 / 4,9 / 5,9 = $12

Best Bet: HEZA RUBE (9th)

Spot Play: LIFE LONG HANOVER (3rd)

Race 1

(2) LASER LUCY mare will be tough to beat if she stays trotting. (7) HOWDY DEWEY well bred 4-year-old has just been racing evenly but finds a much softer bunch. (4) SOUTH JERSEY FLASH picks up a huge driver change and owns some back class.

Race 2

(3) BLACK ACE HANOVER has good gate speed and takes a big drop in class. (2) PL EARL also owns some gate speed which could put him in line for a good trip up close to the pace. (1) COACH KEN gets the best post coming off a scratch and is probably best used underneath.

Race 3

(7) LIFE LONG HANOVER takes a big drop in class and should offer a fair price since the driver opted elsewhere. (5) FORTUNE SAILOR doesn't have much early gate speed which could put him up against it with a slow pace. (9) NEELY SPRING has been racing much better the last few months and could hit the bottom of the ticket at a price.

Race 4

(3) TICKLE MY FANTASY gets sent out for top connections and the horse has a good winning percentage. (1) AT DAYBREAK looks to be the main danger to the top choice and should be in a good spot turning for home. (5) DON'T SURGARCOAT IT has been pacing some decent miles just has lacked stamina late; command a price.

Race 5

(7) CONTESSA LEIGH hasn't been able to transition against older but the Ohio Champion gets big-time class relief and just needs a smooth trip to get on track. (5) ANNIE'S ROCKETMAN gelding is sharp right now and will be looking to go coast to coast. (1) HERE COMES BUBBA also takes a significant drop with the best post, however he is likely to offer low value with the top driver.

Race 6

(4) RAMEMBER picks up a top driver and appears to be pacing faster than most of the field. (3) IRON N STEEL is 0 for 19 on the year but has shown a decent burst of speed; use underneath. (1) STORMY GHOST has ability but is very inconsistent; command a price.

Race 7

(5) MACHIN MONEY is the question mark in the race coming off broken equipment. The pacer faces a much weaker field than he's been racing against. (4) MAJOR SPEED raced well last out closing up nicely but needs more. (9) CHAMP IAN finally scored last out impressively but has yet to show consistency; use underneath.

Race 8

In a race that could see some fireworks early (4) JUST CROWNED might be able to sit off the early pace and have a shot late. (1) CASH'EM IN gets sent out for a hot barn and was a recent winner at this level. (3) DUNGEON DRAGON parlayed a perfect trip last out and will be tough to pass with an early breather.

Race 9

(3) HEZA RUBE gets a huge driver change, takes a big drop in class, and has the most talent in the field. (5) TABULATOR has a big burst of speed if the trotter can mind his manners. (2) PEMBROKE SNAPSHOT makes his first start in a new barn but could need a start; use caution.

Race 10

(9) I FOUND MY BEACH went a monster mile last out coming first up against the favorite outgaming him to the wire; driver's choice. (4) GOODNITE GOODLUCK classy stallion gets a good starting post and should be in line for a trip up close to the pace. (7) FOREVER GOOD also could play a factor early but would need more to upset.

Race 11

(5) JULIANS CAESAR is racing gamely for the top barn in the country and finally gets away from some tough customers. (9) MYTHICAL HALL well bred gelding would be better off with his nose on the gate but still could win with a smooth trip. (7) KAHOKU gelding's driver was worried about protecting position last start rather than working out a trip. The trotter had been sharp prior but will be at the mercy of the pace and outer flow.

Race 12

(5) NO SHENANIGANS was roughed up last out for new connections. The pacer races back on lasix and makes his second start for a hot trainer. (1) BASILIO BLUE CHIP has been a new pacer since changing barns. The 10-year-old gets the best post, owns some tactical gate speed, and looks to be in line for an ideal trip. (2) DERINGER GUN usually offers a nice price and has been very competitive at this level.

Race 13

(6) TAKE A WALK was no threat in this class last start but the well bred pacer will offer a huge price and has popped some big miles from time to time. (4) GENUINE STAR N was much better last week racing forwardly placed and finds an inconsistent field. (3) FOLLOW THROUGH gets post relief and looks like a player with a smooth trip.

Race 14

(6) SOMECAM can head straight to the winners circle with a repeat of his last effort. (2) CHASE THE SUN is on a roll but does get sent out for new connections; use caution. (8) DUTCHTREAT HANOVER gets sent out for a red-hot trainer for the first time who is lethal in that scenario. Watch the trainer's previous starters to try and gauge this one.

Race 15

(4) PRIME TIME POPPA took no prisoners last out in the same class and will look to do it again. (9) RIGHT ON TIME owns a good brush when timed right; threat. (1) MOSH PIT well bred gelding gets sent out for an inconsistent trainer but the pacer's best would be good enough.

DRF HARNESS

Race 4 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: MELMERBY BEACH (3rd)

Spot Play: BUDDY HALLY (8th)

Race 1

(6) FLEXIE is hard to overlook following her lone qualifying winning effort in 1:58 3/5. She looks ready to begin her career. (3) COCONUT CREAM draws inside and closed very well last week from ninth-to-fourth for Mayotte at this same level. (2) RUB THE GENIE comes out of the Beaver barn and drops in class.

Race 2

(2) SILVERHILL SHADOW just missed last week, comes out of the Moore barn and is due for his first win of the season. (1) NIRVANA SEELSTER gets the rail and went a tough trip in his latest and still finished fourth. He's a top threat in here. (4) SURPRISE HANOVER was parked the mile last start and was still game at the end of the mile.

Race 3

(7) MELMERBY BEACH is fresh off a win in a career best and competed in the North America Cup and Somebeachsomewhere. (1) CAPOZZO moves onto this circuit and just missed in his latest at The Meadowlands in a speedy mile. (4) REASONABLE FORCE won two back in the Gold level and comes out of the Montini barn.

Race 4

(4) VAL DI NOTO made a miscue in her latest, but put forth a terrific effort two back in her first start of the season. She has the speed and might offer a fair price. (1) EMBRY SEELSTER comes out of the Auciello barn, gets the rail and has been knocking on the door in her last two starts in this class.

Race 5

(7) SHEER FLEX hasn't been worse than second in both starts this season. He certainly has the speed and was a convincing winner in his latest. (2) WIZARD OF OSNEY draws post two and is fresh off a win as the favourite. (6) KEEP THE CASH has won three of five this season, draws well and comes from Hall of Famer McIntosh.

Race 6

(3) NEFERTITI BLUE CHIP comes out of the Darling barn, is versatile and will get a lot of attention in here. (2) LADY SHADOW comes from the McNair barn and comes out of the Fan Hanover and SBOA. (8) BROOKDALE SHADOW has won two straight, moves up in class and continues to improve.

Race 7

(6) MEGATRON raced very well in his season debut last week to finish third and should be able to improve. He has excellent gate-speed and gets Filion in the bike. (4) IM DRINKIN DOUBLES has missed the board once from five starts this season, comes out of the Moore barn and enjoys being put into the race. (7) SVADILFARI closed well in his latest and won two starts back in a new career best.

Race 8

(2) BUDDY HALLY continues to trot in the 1:54-range and drops in class. (3) ZEUS LIGHTNING has all kinds of back class and has been knocking on the door in his last two starts. (7) MMS LUCKY BOY has been much better in recent outings, comes out of the Cirasuola barn and is versatile.

Race 9

(4) MY SECRET BELLE won last start, has an excellent record this season and has been much better in her last two. (8) ALIBI SEELSTER will also get a lot of attention in here with her terrific record this season and recent winning effort. (7) ARTFUL IMPULSE comes out of the McIntosh barn, is versatile and finished third in the rich SBOA final in her latest.

Race 10

(4) GRAND REWARDS was a game second last week for trainer Fellows in a quick mile and should be fast enough to win this maiden contest. (6) SHARK LEAP HANOVER was the heavy favourite last week in this class and made a miscue. He closed extremely fast two back and will look for a turnaround effort. (2) JITTLE IT got interfered with last start and still managed a third-place finish. He draws inside, comes out of Steacy's barn and is a logical play.

DRF HARNESS

Race 5 - $10,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool

MEET STATS: 183 - 528 / $958.00 BEST BETS: 32 - 43 / $105.90

Best Bet: IDEAL MAGIC (6th)

Spot Play: ISLAND LEXUS (1st)

Race 1

(4) ISLAND LEXUS has done nothing since the claim but he does drop in class and goes second time for a new trainer. (3) JOLLY JUBITER ships in for connections that are tough to ignore. (5) HARNESSNITEINCANADA steps up looking for two in a row.

Race 2

(3) BROADWAYS FORTUNE understandably tired last week after being used multiple times in her debut for Garcia-Herrera; she deserves another chance. (1) ORANGE BIGI has speed, class and the best draw. (7) HOWE'S MAGIC hasn't done much this year but he picks up Sears in his return.

Race 3

(3) BETTOR BUSINESS backed up last out in NYSS action; her Lismore elimination effort last month was solid. (5) FLYING NUN ships from Philly where she was arguably facing tougher. (2) GORDJUS adds Lasix tonight, could improve.

Race 4

(3) CARD SHOCK jogged last week in his local debut. He faces a tough foe tonight in (5) BEST SAID but he may be the better price. The latter has had moderate success versus some really good foes in Pennsylvania. (2) WELL TO DO looks clearly best of the rest.

Race 5

(3) MAIN STAGE has been picking up checks versus similar foes up at Saratoga and the veteran faces nothing special here. (6) BLIZZARD WARNING also ships south and she's got some early speed. (2) HOBOKEN SUNNY may be best when all is said and done but he's impossible to endorse based on his current form.

Race 6

(3) IDEAL MAGIC qualified nicely last month but fell flat in NYSS action; this is clearly an easier spot. (2) WEST MATTERS was a solid winner when last seen here. (4) UF BETTORS HANOVER rejoins the Brainard barn and could land a share.

Race 7

(5) DELCO ROCKNROLL drops in class, gets post relief and should be forwardly placed with Brennan driving. (2) ROADWAY land back inside and was a winner three back with Sears in the bike. This one has plenty of back class. (1) TIDEWATER TEDDY toured the track from the eight hole last week and now he moves all the way in.

Race 8

(4) DALLENBACH HANOVER gets Sears back in the sulky and with an improved post he may be firing out. (2) HILLBILLY HANOVER cannot be ignored from the Burke/Brennan team but this gelding is still winless on the year. (3) TRACK MASTER D finished willingly last out though too late.

Race 9

(4) KEEMOSABE is erratic sometimes but he's got loads of speed; worth a try in this wide-open affair. (1) ART OF TEMPATION can be a threat if he holds early position. (6) BITTERSWEET CHAMP has raced well in all of his local starts.

Race 10

(4) ALITTLEAINTENOUGH raced very well in defeat last out getting run over by a sharp rival; four-year-old looks ready to score. (2) LAWGIVER HANOVER gets post relief off last week's decent effort. (1) ELECTROFIRE returns locally and he's had a good history here.

Race 11

(5) FASTER FASTER is still winless in 2014 yet she looks like the one to beat here; tread lightly. (1) BREATHTAKING lands the rail and that alone makes her a contender. (4) LIFE OF SMILEY got going too late last week.

Race 12

(4) K SLATER dropped and popped in a C-2 race at the Meadowlands and Bartlett was in the bike for that race. Veteran returns locally and can easily make it two straight. (1) REAL FLIGHT returns locally off a couple of solid efforts out of town. (3) HELLO HOT SHOT has emerged as a solid money-earner for his connections and he should be an okay fit in here.

Preview: Red Sox (35-41) at Mariners (40-36)

Game: 1
Venue: Safeco Field
Date: June 23, 2014 10:10 PM EDT

Though Seattle's Felix Hernandez has received little run support of late, he's pitched extremely well over the last month.

The right-hander has been just as tough on the Boston Red Sox in recent years.

Looking for another strong performance overall and against the reigning World Series champions, Hernandez tries to help the streaking Mariners avoid a seventh consecutive defeat to the visiting Red Sox on Monday night.

Hernandez (8-2, 2.22 ERA) is 4-1 with a 1.33 ERA and 62 strikeouts in his last seven starts. However, Seattle (40-36) has scored one run while he's been on the mound yielding two runs, 11 hits and striking out 31 in 22 1-3 innings to go 0-1 in his last three outings. He gave up a run and three hits while striking out 10 without a walk over seven innings of a 2-1 loss at San Diego on Wednesday.

"I don't care if I get the decision," Hernandez told the Mariners' official website. "It's not about winning for me, just as a team."

Though Hernandez has allowed one run or none while pitching seven or more innings and not factoring in the decision 28 times, manager Lloyd McClendon won't feel sorry for his ace.

"Every time we don't score runs for Felix, we can't say it's a tough game for Felix," McClendon said. "It's a tough game for the Seattle Mariners."

The Mariners have scored 18 runs with their ace on the mound while he's gone 2-0 with a 1.17 ERA in his last three starts versus Boston (35-41).

He's allowed a run each while totaling 25 innings in winning two of his last three home starts overall, and has a 2.35 ERA during a three-start winning streak against the Red Sox at Safeco Field. Hernandez gave up two runs in seven innings of an 11-4 home win in the teams' first meeting last season, but Boston averaged 8.5 runs while winning the next six in a row.

David Ortiz is batting .323 with a home run against Hernandez, and homered in the 10th inning of Sunday's 7-6 victory that helped Boston avoid being swept in a four-game set at Oakland.

'I like to go out there and make things happen,' said Ortiz, who went 8 for 13 with three doubles, two homers and four RBIs at Seattle last season.

Teammate Mike Napoli, who also homered and stole home Sunday, is 6 for 36 (.167) with two doubles, a home run and 14 strikeouts versus Hernandez.

Looking for a fourth straight win overall and at home, the Mariners swept a three-game road set from a Kansas City team that began that series atop the AL Central. Roenis Elias pitched 6 2-3 strong innings Sunday during Seattle's second straight 2-1 victory.

'It shows what we're able to do when we play well," said veteran Willie Bloomquist, who is batting .375 with nine RBIs in his last 14 games.

A career .308 hitter versus Boston, Robinson Cano faces the Red Sox for the first time since leaving the rival Yankees. He's hit .379 (11 for 29) with five doubles since 2010 against Boston's John Lackey (8-4, 2.96 ERA), who is 3-1 with a 1.60 ERA in his last six starts.

The right-hander allowed three hits and struck out nine over nine scoreless innings of a 2-1, 10-inning win over Minnesota on Wednesday.

Lackey is 6-0 with a 2.01 ERA in his last seven starts at Seattle, though he has not pitched there since 2011.
