Mohawk: Monday 6/2 Analysis
By Greg Gangle
DRF HARNESS

Race 4 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: WANNA ROCK N ROLL (8th)

Spot Play: BUDDY HALLY (7th)

Race 1

(1) KICKOFF HANOVER has a solid record in his young career and still fits this class. He has the speed and debuts in a top trotting barn. (4) MYSTICAL WISHES is fresh off a win, draws inside and adds lasix. (9) TENOR DUHARAS qualified strong in a good time and looks ready at first asking.

Race 2

(6) SLIP INTO GLIDE won last week at this level and has won three of his last four. (3) WHEELING N DEALIN continues to race well and finish off his miles very strongly. He continues to improve with each start. (4) MEGO MOSS continues to offer a fair price and went a big trip last week. He's versatile and has hit the board in four of his last five.

Race 3

(3) BROOKDALE SHADOW went a speedy mile last week in just her second start of the season. She draws inside and is ready for her first win of the season. (7) BORN TO DREAM closed very well last week at high odds. She showed the speed required and likely will offer a much lesser price. (2) IM SHAMELESS is fresh off a win, draws inside and comes from a high percentage barn.

Race 4

(3) FIERY JET debuts for Moreau, has been racing very consistently and is certainly capable. (1) JIGGLE IT gets the rail, posted a speedy qualifier and comes out of Steacy's barn. (9) MYTHE DUHURAS raced very well last week and continues to drop time. He'll have to overcome the outside, but is a good option for the triactor.

Race 5

(4) MEADOWVIEW ARTY is fresh off a win and has been racing much better since arriving in the Auciello barn. (9) RECKOM IM READY finished second in his latest and has an excellent record this season. (7) AISLING has hit the board in two of his last three, comes out Moreau's barn and may offer a fair price at this level.

Race 6

(2) KINDOFABIGDEAL raced very strong in his first career start last week. He dropped considerable time from his qualifier and is ready to break his maiden. (1) MITTCENT VAN GOGH has finished second in each of his last two starts and was very impressive in his most recent effort. (8) VEGAS RICH has hit the board in two of his last three, shows the speed and is able to overcome the outside to hit the triactor ticket.

Race 7

(9) BUDDY HALLY hopefully offers a fair price. He's been racing very strong in recent outings and if he's positioned well in the early stages, I like his chances. (5) THANKYOUKESSEL closed very well in his latest, draws more inside and remains at the same level. (2) ROCKYS FIRST did all the work last week en route to victory at this class. He won't offer the same price as he's been racing at his best in recent weeks.

Race 8

(2) WANNA ROCK N ROLL finished a game second last week at this level, draws inside and a repeat effort should be quick enough to win. (7) POLK DOT HANOVER comes out of Menary's barn and has hit the board in each of her last two in this class. (8) NINE LIVES HANOVER ships onto this circuit after qualifying at The Meadowlands in a solid final frame. She shows the speed and likely will race from behind.

Race 9

(10) CATCH THE DREAM has all kinds of back class, faces an easier bunch and is due for a turnaround effort. (9) INTENSE AMERICA debuts in Moreau's barn, which will drop her price. She hasn't been racing at her best, but drops in class. (4) BOOGIE WOOGIE draws inside, drops in class once again and is a top threat at this level.

Race 10

(10) FRAME WORTHY qualified very strong and looks the best on paper. (1) LYONS SHADOW closed very well last week to finish third. She now gets the rail and shouldn't be too far back. (4) DANIKA PATRIX hasn't missed the board in four career starts, remains at this maiden level and comes out of Menary's barn.

Northfield: Monday 6/2 Analysis + Pick Four ticket
By Jeremey Day
DRF HARNESS

Race 3 - $7,500 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool

Race 8 - $10,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Jeremey’s $1 Pick Four Play:

1,5,6 / 1,7 / 7 / 3,4,8 = $18

Best Bet: ROSE RUN LOGAN (10th)

Spot Play: SOMECAM (2nd)

Race 1

(2) GALE FORCE HANOVER well bred trotter looks to make it six straight and just needs to stay trotting; short price. (1) ELIZABETH J gets the best post and has been trotting consistently; use underneath. (6) BRADYMEISTER has some ability but faces older and is best used on the bottom of your tickets.

Race 2

(2) SOMECAM veteran pacer makes his first start for connections that have been hot in this scenario. (1) IMPRESSIVE JET finally gets a good post and picks up the top driver. (3) IRON N STEEL is 0 for the year but did put in a nice effort last out.

Race 3

(4) NORMA'S ROSE mare is streaky but has a lot of ability even at nine years of age. (9) HOWDY DEWEY well bred gelding hits the board a lot and still has some upside for a new trainer. (3) MUSTODIAN showed a really nice burst of speed last out.

Race 4

In a field with few contenders (1) CHASE THE SUN has been a force at this level, gets the best post, and will look to take no prisoners early. (9) OUR MCLOVIN could be the only threat to the top choice if the pacer can work out a smooth trip from the second tier. (2) ROYAL CAM-HALL has shown a decent move when timed right but would need much more.

Race 5

(6) HAWKS CRY HOBOKEN sophomore pacer finds a spot to gain some confidence against a suspect bunch. (4) LITTLE MAN JOE makes his first start for new connections that usually show improvement. (2) PANSKRIT is very inconsistent but gets a good post after being used very aggressively last start.

Race 6

(3) ANNIE'S ROCKETMAN is really starting to crank it up and should get a good trip up close to the pace. (1) ACTION-EAR-TO-EAR pacing bred trotter has also been racing gamely and just needs to ration out his speed to hit the top spot. (5) NOAH COUNT has been slowly improving but is probably best used underneath.

Race 7

(5) STEVIE DIAMONDS needed his last start, will offer a big price, and could pick up the pieces in the right scenario. (3) DUNGEON DRAGON drops back down to a level where the gelding was a winner by open lengths setting his lifetime mark. The pacer will offer low value but is capable of going unchallenged. (2) FIERCE DESIRE closed up good ground in his last few starts and could be in a better position late.

Race 8

(1) MARY'S DARVIN gets a big driver change and the best post. (6) SAND ROYAL BLU just needs to stay trotting for a big chance. (5) ZORGWIJK HEAVENLY made a break last out but is reunited with a pilot that has had success with the trotter.

Race 9

(1) FOREVER GOOD just missed at a price last out and gets sent out for a red hot trainer. (7) LONESOME ATTACK got picked off after being stung early. The pacer will by flying out of the gate and just needs to find a spot for a good chance. (4) T RED nine-year-old is capable of pacing monster miles at times which makes him very tough to gauge.

Race 10

(7) ROSE RUN LOGAN adds second time lasix and gets a post advantage on his main rival; fires early. (2) HEZA RUBE gelding has a big time engine when he minds his manners. (3) EDIT has been facing some tough fields and racing gamely but is probably best used underneath.

Race 11

(3) EDDIE SWEAT well bred stallion has had some hiccups mentally from time to time but has big-time go and faces much easier. (8) ROCKIN FINISH is probably the best in the race but is handicapped by a tough post to navigate in this class. (4) JS TANGO is razor sharp right now just facing better.

Race 12

(6) NORDIC VENTURE has been knocking on the door and just needs a smooth trip for a big chance. (1) OLIN gelding finally finds a spot to get a piece dropping back down to a level where he can compete. (4) ANASTASIA WHINNIE doesn't show much on paper but finds a wide open race and should offer a big price.

Race 13

(5) FORTUNE'S JENNA picks up the right driver for the job and will be used very aggressively for a top barn. (3) COLD BATH has been pacing some fast miles and could be a threat with an early breather. (1) HEZA STAR CRUISER bumps up in class but gets the best post and has a ton of gate speed.

Race 14

(6) CRY FOR CASH drops down to a much easier level and has been pacing some fast miles. (3) THE MACHSTER has lacked stamina late but picks up the top driver; threat. (4) BUSTER MEE N has just been racing evenly and could use some racing luck.

Race 15

(1) KENNAIRN LIFE SIGN gets the best post, an aggressive driver, and just needs the dust to settle quickly for a big chance. (4) MILLION DOLLAR ART was an easy winner down in class last out and probably needed the start. (2) JAY DEAN DEW eleven-year-old will offer a big price and could offer value underneath.

KEY STAT: Ecuador have only won two of their last 13 games

EXPERT VERDICT: Ecuador’s home form was the bedrock of their successful World Cup qualifying campaign, and despite a recent draw in Holland, they rarely turn it on without the altitude advantage. England should come on for the Peru game, and are a backable price to secure a confidence-boosting win against a side beaten easily by Mexico last time out.

RECOMMENDATION: England

KEY STAT: Austria are unbeaten in four matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Both of these teams narrowly missed out on a play-off place during World Cup qualifying but border rivalry means this match should still played at a decent tempo. Pavel Vrba has picked a young squad as he searches for his victory as Czech Republic manager which gives Austria a good chance to improve on a poor away record.

RECOMMENDATION: Austria

KEY STAT: Brazil have won 13 of their last 14 matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Brazil will be keen to hit the ground running in the first of their two pre-World Cup friendlies and should prove a class apart from Panama. The Central Americans haven’t won in six and could be on the end of a heavy scoreline as Brazil’s players look to earn a place in Phil Scolari’s starting 11.

RECOMMENDATION: Brazil 4-0

KEY STAT: Holland have only lost one of their last 20 matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Wales have shown signs of improvement in beating Iceland and drawing with Belgium recently, but they will struggle to trouble Holland without key man Gareth Bale. The Dutch have been underwhelming in their last two outings but can expose the class gap and sign off for Brazil with a comfortable win.

RECOMMENDATION: Holland 3-0

MLB Comp Pick for Monday, June 2, 2014: 10:10 PM EST

(951) PITTSBURGH PIRATES VS (952) SAN DIEGO PADRES

Take: (952) SAN DIEGO PADRES

Reason: Your free pick for Monday, June 2nd, 2014, comes in National League action as the Pirates and Padres meet at Petco Park in San Diego. This is a big park and Pittsburgh can't hit, 26th in baseball in runs scored, 19th in slugging. The Pirates are 7-16 in their last 23 road games. Starter Charlie Morton walks too many batters, 26 in 68 innings, which explains a 1-7 record. His last two starts he's walked 8 in 11 innings along with 9 hits and 4 runs. Morton surrendered three runs (two earned) over 5.1 innings in Wednesday's loss to the Mets. For the second consecutive outing, Morton allowed four free passes, bringing his pitch count over 100 before he was able to complete the sixth inning. He was also charged with two wild pitches. The Pirates are 5-15 in their last 20 road games vs. a right-handed starter and face righty Tim Stauffer, who has a 1.72 ERA at home. The Padres are 4-1 in Stauffer's last 5 home starts. And when these teams meet the Pirates are 14-39 in the last 53 meetings, 8-17 here in Petco Park. Play San Diego.

Monday Bonus Play

4:05 PM MLB (953) BOSTON RED SOX (954) CLEVELAND INDIANS

Take: (953) BOSTON RED SOX -115

What a difference one week can make. Turn back the calendar just seven days and the Red Sox were closing out a terrible weekend at Tampa Bay and limping home with a ten-game losing streak. Just one week later, the defending champs are red hot and will be looking for their eighth straight win as they open a series with the Indians in Cleveland. The Tribe is also on a roll, just having completed a weekend sweep of the Rockies. Cleveland has been pretty terrible on the road this season, but the Indians have been nails at home.

The current good form for both teams can’t hide the fact they’re each still on the wrong side of .500 overall. But there is some real positive momentum in place right now for both the Red Sox and Indians, so this shapes up as a series of some significance to these two entries. I’m looking at the starting pitching as the key in tonight’s opener.

John Lackey is coming in hot for the Red Sox. He hasn’t been scored on in back to back starts. Lackey is almost always going to give up his share of base hits. But his control right now is impeccable and Lackey has surrendered only two homers in his last eight starts. The historic data shows that Lackey has generally pitched his baseball right about this point of the season, so he looks like go with material right now.

That’s something that cannot be said for Justin Masterson. This has been a trying first two months of the season for the Indians righty. His velocity has been off since the start of the season, and that seems to have led to a multitude of problems that haven’t been corrected yet. Masterson is having serious problems with his command. The numbers are pretty telling. Masterson has an ERA that’s close to 9 over his last four starts, with more walks than strikeouts and an alarming WHIP. The Red Sox are a bad matchup for Masterson as they’re a very patient team, so those walks could definitely come into play tonight.

The offenses here look pretty close. Both teams have lineups that can make life tough on opposing righties. The Boston bullpen rates the edge and is fresher than that of the Indians as well. There’s no way to overlook how well Cleveland has played at home, but Boston has actually been respectable on the road so far, with the exception of that calamity last week at Tropicana. I think the key here is Lackey vs. Masterson, and I’m going to ride the current form charts and back Lackey here. The number is reasonable enough, so tonight’s play is on the Red Sox to keep their winning streak intact.

#7 HARLING'S DARLING (ML=2/1)

HARLING'S DARLING - Early speed is always important in horse racing, but the lone speed horse is always dangerous. Ness drops her down to this class. You don't need too much more handicapping information to think this thoroughbred has a shot at this level. Ran a less than stellar race at Laurel Park last time out. Racing on a non-sloppy track puts this filly at the top of my contenders roll call. Ranks highest in (EPS) earnings per start. A dominant try in this race will boost the lifetime total.

Vulnerable Contenders: #1 ROBIN'S KISSES (ML=3/1), #2 JIVE PARTNER (ML=4/1), #3 MALABAR ANNE (ML=6/1),

ROBIN'S KISSES - She showed not much at all in the last event. Mediocre speed rating last time around the track at Charles Town at 1 1/16 miles. Don't feel this racer will improve too much in today's race. JIVE PARTNER - Didn't land in the top three on May 2nd at Penn National. Followed it up with another less than stellar performance. This questionable contender will probably bounce off of the last strong outing. MALABAR ANNE - I'd like to see more hospitable recent outings with oddsmaker's morning line of 6/1.
