Race 1

(4) OYSTER BAY recovered well after an early break in his last, which was a needed start after the holiday break. Veteran has back class and would be no surprise here. (2) TERRYS STAR DRAGON held second in a decent try last week and can be a speed threat again. (1) ROCKY REGAL also promises to be close up from this spot.


Race 2

(6) SECRET INGREDIENT raced well in the first leg of the Super Bowl over at the Meadowlands; he looks perfectly spotted against this field. (2) CHASIN CLOUDS AWAY never got close upon arrival; the major post relief will help her cause. (4) KEYSTONE SADIE also ships in from the big track and she can threaten if she minds her manners.

Race 3

(3) CUT A DEAL qualified effectively coming back from vacation and she enters the Surick barn; filly has a post edge on rival (7) DOO WEE RUSTY. The latter was a blowout winner at The Meadowlands, has Sears driving and is an obvious threat. (2) THE PERFECT DREAM had some willing late pace last out; Carlson drives tonight, and he's been pretty live so far this year.

Race 4

(1) ONE MORE KID changed barns last week, took tons of money but didn't deliver off a two-move effort; he's got the rail tonight and can go down the road. (3) IPO BLUE CHIP missed a month, then toured the track from post eight; mare is a big threat here. (2) NEWPORT VOLO was facing better when last seen here.

Race 5

(3) DEAD WRONG didn't race all that badly last out as she held for a board spot; mare appears overdue. (1) GET PACKIN is the king of the $12,500 claimers and he's clearly the one to beat here; short price. (7) IMA SPUR has hinted at a form reversal and he can be a closing threat.

Race 6

(4) LAHAYE is back in claimers off a win versus lesser; three back when Carlson drive this veteran closed a ton. (7) BIG BAY POINT has plenty of early speed to overcome the poor post. (6) GARY'S PARTY kicked home nicely last out; Kakaley sticks with him.

Race 7

(1) FALL TOY was a good second in his last two; there's no reason he can't win from this spot. (2) MAJOR STONE never threatened in his first for new connections but he gets post relief tonight. (4) COASTAL N was bottomed from the pocket last out; his last couple of races have been poor.

Race 8

(4) COWBOY TOUGH was second best last out in a needed start; Brennan sticks and the gelding can advance tonight. (3) TROON ships from The Meadowlands, where he's held his ground in fast miles. (5) CITY HALL moves in a few spots tonight.

Race 9

(3) FITZ'S Z TAM hasn't been at his best recently but if the Burke trainee in right he can crush this group. (1) WHITE MOUNTAIN TOP has shown improvement since returning to Yonkers. (5) MONTANA PABLO was flying in the stretch but it was too late in last; needs to get going earlier.

Race 10

(3) WESTERN DAKOTA had nothing to offer from a tough spot last out but this veteran has back class and I don't think anyone would be scratching their heads if he found a way to win this. (4) IRA'S BIG GUY gets some needed post relief and he can threaten with a live trip. (5) ON THE BRINK is up in class off a good try and Sears drives again.

Race 11

(5) ENVIOUS HANOVER toured the track from post eight in her local debut and the Burke trainee can show more tonight. (4) SENORITA SANTANNA is another Canadian import who should fit nicely here. (1) LET HER ROCK gets needed post relief and Sears drives again.

Race 12

(3) SO NICE flew home at The Meadowlands to just miss last out. She's Sears' choice tonight and is clearly the one to beat. (7) IT'S A MIRACLE should be forwardly placed for Brennan. (1) WHISTYS PARADISE was an upset winner last out versus an arguably better group; she's got a shot here.

Spot Play: ONE MORE GINNY (1st)

Race 1

(9) ONE MORE GINNY is a classy mare, who has the speed and should be forwardly placed in this low class. (8) PROTEGE SEELSTER is fresh off a win and comes out of the Johnson barn. (2) MARGARITA BI draws inside, drops down in class and comes out of the Moreau stable.


Race 2

(6) EXTRACURRICULAR will likely be the favourite and deserves to be on the class drop (5) SCARY GOOD has rallied for two straight second-place efforts and remains at the same level. (4) QUIT SMOKING NOW has hit the board in each of his last two and three of his last four. He also drops in class and receives post relief.

Race 3

(1) CATCH THE DREAM draws inside and has won two straight, including in this Preferred class last week. (5) AMIGO DE GRANDE went a big trip in his latest and is a perfect one-for-one for new trainer Auciello. (6) TAKE MY PICTURE is a classy veteran who certainly can't be overlooked at this level.

Race 4

(1) CASIMIR LAWMAN won at this level in his latest and draws well. He hasn't raced since Boxing Day, but gets Zeron in the bike. (8) ROCK N GO is a good option for the exactor as he's hit the board in each of his last two starts in this class. (6) SO BAD IM GOOD has been offering a high price and has hit the board in each of his last two. He's versatile and may offer a price once again.

Race 5

(1) REAL ROCKER finally gets the rail and drops in class. He comes out of the Johnson barn and should get some attention in here. (2) I SCOOT SAM draws well once again and gets Hudon in the bike. He'll likely offer a price even with the class drop. (10) SHIPPS XPECTANCY has been racing rather inconsistently, but he has excellent gate-speed when he needs it. He will need it from a post 10 start.

Race 6

(2) PAIGING KADABRA has the speed for this class, draws well and Waples once again is in the bike. (4) SURVEILLANCE drops in class and closed very well two and three starts ago. With an effort like that, he makes a very good case for himself. (1) P L FANTASTIC draws much better, has excellent gate speed and drops in class.

Race 7

(3) KG DRAGONATOR finally draws inside and has a patented closing kick, which was displayed last week. He should be closer to the front and likely will offer a low price. (5) ONTARIO SUCCESS won both preliminary legs and looks like the horse to beat, but is capable of defeat. (1) HOPIESDRAGNINTHEDO gets the rail, has excellent gate-speed and races at his best when he's put into the race.

Race 8

(10) BARE NECESSITY will have to overcome post 10, but he's generally a threat at this bottom level and has been knocking on the door in his last two. (3) DOCS HOSS raced very well last week to finish second and he finished second in two of his last three. (2) RAVE ON draws inside and has hit the board in three of his last four. The addition of lasix has appeared to help.

Race 9

(7) NORTHERN VICTORY has been in top form for the past number of weeks and even with the barn change and class jump, he's very capable. (6) SMARTY PANTS doesn't like to win, but drops in class and comes out of Moreau's barn. (2) STAR RUFFNREADY draws inside and as been racing at a much higher level. He gets Moiseyev in the bike and is very versatile.

Race 10

(5) ONE BAD NIGHT qualified very well with solid final quarters. This is a very wide-open field and he has the potential. (3) DRY ICE draws inside, but hasn't been on form as of late. He'll look for a turnaround effort. (10) THETOADANDME closed well last week to finish second. He'll likely offer a price and will need a trip.

Race 11

(5) JACS SPADE won last week in this class, moves into the Menary barn and draws well once again. (4) DAPPER DENZIL draws inside, moves back into the Maclean barn and remains in the same class. (3) FRESH HERB has hit the board in each of his last five starts and once again is a top threat in here.

Race 12

(8) HERESTOJESSICA is fresh off a winning qualifier and appears to be ready. (3) PART TIME LADY draws inside and won at this level two starts ago. She has the speed and enjoys racing from behind. (6) A FIESTY X AMPLE moves onto this circuit and will likely offer a price. She does have the speed, enjoys racing from behind and shows the speed required when she raced at Pocono.

Stuff like this just corroborates what I think about sports services, namely that virtually all of them blow hot and cold over time and unless you jump on and off at precisely the right time, you will lose.
It is all fine and good for a sports service to tell us that thet are hot and have been on a 30-7 run.
However what if you weren't lucky enough to jump on exactly when the run started or worse you were also on board before that when they were on a long losing streak?
Sebastian is the bext example I can think of in this regard as I am so familiar with him.
He crows today about a 17-6 streak after a HORRIBLE January before-big deal.
He had a very good November and December-what good is that if one didn't jump on during those times or worse had been with him for the days, weeks, months and years before where he lost a documented many thousands if not hundreds of thousands of units, had a 45 or 46% winning percentage over that time-those losses will NEVER be made up-factor in the cost of the service over that time, and it is much worse.
The expression that "One buys the sizzle and not the steak" has been used to describe sports services in general.
In most cases if time is the criterion, the steak is rotten if you catch my drift re: sports services.
I still remember the words of one of my working buddies many years ago who gambled for a few weeks and wisely gave it up.
The words which still ring true are "what good is gambling on sports if all you are doing is trying to win back money you lost?"
ps There are a FEW exceptions-good luck in finding them.
