Like Denver +3 and the under. There was a trend around not sure what the percentage of it hitting was but it was pretty good.... It said to take the under if a team was up 17+ points. Anyone know what it is?

I like the 2nd half under. Either this clock operator is dozing off or he's doing business. When Gannon was sacked near the end of the half, the clock kept running. I also noticed a few extra seconds ticking off here and there. They all add up.

Getting off the total is certainly an option and a nice option to have but I'm sticking with my under play. I just hope the clock operator has the under like I think he does.

Sounds right, seems that if a team is up by a lot they will tend to run down the clock when they get the ball so the other team has no chance to get back in it.... good luck with your pick I like the Under...

I saw the same thing with U of Texas and the 2nd half being -13.5 for Texas. The line jumped from +102 to -122. Texas ended up not covering the line

Then, the 2nd half line for the 49ers was -3 @ +101 and it went to -3 @ -121. The 49ers ended up not covering.

Now, the line for the UNDER went from 22.5 @ -130 to 22.5 @ -144.

I'm taking the over.

2nd half under with one team leading by 17+ is an unbelievable 8-1 so far this season. Yesterday's only play and winner was NYG/Wash under 21 1/2 for 2nd half. The Raiders might not score - not sure if the Broncs will put up that many.

when you post trends like this it drives the vig way up and takes away the value from the play. The o/u should have been about 23 and not much higher than -110, it's much better to just post the play without an explanation.

ATX:

Are there really enough people in here who read these trends to cause the vig to change?

I find this information rather helpful.

DEFINITELY

the advertisers definitely visit the site, and the lurkers use this stuff. Same with NBA Denver 2nd half under. I know who reads the site and doesnt post, they are the ones to worry about. Use email to discuss this stuff, the books didnt even know about the value of buying on/off the 3 in football until it hit the forums a while back.

ATX:

I didn't know that stuff.

Do they read the things in the Handicapping Forum that we write? Should we not be discussing techniques there or is it mostly during the game that we should refrain?

Thanks.

BGO,

You kinda know me, I'm not being a hard-ass.

The books didnt know how profitable it was to buy on and off the 3 in football until a few years ago AFTER it was posted in the forums. That really sucked.

The books read this site, the wise guys read this site. Mostly to see who pays and who doesnt, or for laughs, but the forums are a barometer for the industry to a certain extent.

Most of the things I discuss in the handicapping zone are common knowledge now, or are based on values that can't be easily changed b/c the action is overwhelmingly on the other side. The 2nd half under last night at -130 or more had basically little or no value, and I dont think this was a cooincidence. Feel free to email me about anything, I dont have even close to all the answers, but I may be able to direct you to someone.

Agree with you ATX that more dissemination takes the value away, but that is the nature of winning systems. I find it interesting that the wiseguy books are hips to the systems, but numerous of the public-based books are not. Not unnatural to see 1-1.5 point variances in the halftime lines even after adjusting for some moving to -130 or higher. Also, lots of books still move halftimes late based on the money flow and that also creates opportunity in the non-system player books. But I suspect the days of us being able to routinely pound halftime unders are coming to a close.

Rudy, I suspect you are right.

The problem with the smaller books are the limits and the safety issue. I have noticed that the 2nd halves are a bit sharper than last year. I have a lot of 2nd half systems and a couple of them should come into play more as the season progresses. I just think it is better to post plays and say you have a system than to post the actual system. A lot more people know about the leading by 17 angle now, but that is not the entire system for this subset, there is a much stronger subset within this angle and my wagers will reflect this.

I hope everyone does well with this angle for the rest of the year, just be careful with it, it has done a little "too well" so far.

I apologize for seeming to be crass.
