I don’t have strong feelings either way but baseball is driven almost exclusively by money which is driven by sponsors. There are 2 competing narratives on the changes of GA voting laws.
1. Increased voter security
2. Voter suppression
Depending on where you get your news from, you’ll see # 1 or # 2.
No way MLB does this without sponsor support, which leads me to believe the corporations are accepting narrative #2 over narrative #1.
We shall see if other leagues follow suit, and pull out of GA putting GA government feet to the fire.
NCAA pulled out of North Carolina over some transgender thing awhile back.
Sports leagues likely follow both the most lucrative path and path of least resistance, so maybe they avoid GA going forward entirely as it’s easier to avoid this topic than try to explain to the uninformed masses that they’re willing to hold events like the Super Bowl or Final Four in GA yet don’t support voter suppression.
The fact that most talking heads on ESPN have come out in support of MLB in icing out GA leads me to believe most casual fans and non staunch Trump supporters won’t really care one way or the other as long as they have a game to watch.
The corporations dont really believe it is voter supression in its truest form
It is cheating supression and THAT is what they are opposed to, they need their puppets in place.
