Yes I have been missing in action. I have been swamped and usually I really get into it during spring practice but have not been able to yet. I do want to let everyone know about what I think is awesome. Today I ventured onto philsteele.com and was very impressed with what I found. He has amassed all kinds of data, statistics, and info in his "Spring Football Guide." Just about everything you need to know at this point is in this guide. Do yourself a favor and go to his site. You will not regret it.

Meanwhile, I plan on digesting that guide for now and anyone who wants to discuss it with me or others on here feel free to do so. I would be interested to see how others feel about this guide and the fact that it is free is unreal. BOL

Phil Steele is the best in the business. I think he's grown in popularity the last 4-5 years, which makes it easier for him to continue doing it for "free" (he gets website hits and advertisement/sponsorship dollars). I'll go take a look at it. Glad you mentioned it.

Russ......I sense the guys get nervous when they don't hear from a "heavy-weight" contributor like you here in the Rx for extended periods of time. We all can appreciate your being "swamped" from time -to-time. but a short "one liner" (now and then) letting everyone know all is well in Oklahoma City. You do live in tornado alley.

I mentioned philsteele.com up above. I want to mention another source that I like and trust. That is vegasinsider.com. I especially follow their "Against the spread rankings" which covers straight up (home and away), ATS (home and away) and over/unders (home and away).

I should mention that from 2009 to 2012 I did most stats on my own. By 2012 I learned to trust certain sources who, especially in season, could come up with reliable stats on a week to week basis. I only keep one master spread sheet on my own now and I focus on bowl games more than anything else. But you should add vegasinsider.com to your list of sources and I recommend it highly. You might want to get on their and study that ATS ranking chart or copy it for later use.

TCU went 8-0 Straight up at home and also went 8-0 ATS at home in 2014. By comparison Wisconsin went 8-0 Straight up but went 3-5 ATS at home in 2014. Air Force went 7-0 Straight up at home and 6-1 ATS.

Houston went 5-0 ATS in away games and Texas State went 6-0 ATS in away games. North Texas was 0-6 ATS in away games.

Florida St went 7-0 ATS on Unders for Home games. Ohio St went 8-0 ATS on Overs for Home games.
San Diego St was 6-0 on Unders for Home games.

Oklahoma was 5-0 on Over in Away games. Ole Miss and Syracuse were 5-0 each ATS on Unders in away games.

Miami O went 2-10 straight up in 2014 but finished 7-6 ATS. U Mass went 2-9 straight up for the season but finished 8-4 ATS. Florida St finished 13-1 straight up in 2014 but finished 3-11 ATS.

Found all this at vegasinsider.com – “Against the spread rankings”

Vegasinsider.com is an excellent source of information without all the frills and B.S. that Steele loves to put in his articles. It is straight wagering information that successful players rely on. Steele is a good source of info, but well over 60% of his rags are stuffed with totally unnecessary words to make people think that he knows what he is doing. He knows about as much as any other decent player. Certainly no more.

I like his stats. I always buy his preseason mag too.
