Guys, we all know that during the regular NFL season, teams playing on short rest on Thursday and then longer rest the following Sunday presents an added handicapping challenge to these games. But this week's divisional round has a very unique scheduling factor to consider as well. Teams hosting a Saturday game (like San Fran) in this round are 15-1 SU and 11-5 ATS since 2010. One of the obvious reasons is having a 13 day break compared to less than a week for their opponent. And throw in the fact that Minnesota played the Sunday game into overtime on the road. Not going to be easy for the Vikings based on this situation.

SF should win and cover. Line was an overreaction to beating NO. SF a better team than Saints and laying less than a td now?

The line is right on target. No idea why you think it should be more. The line was off last week

Musberger was talking about this yesterday and how SF has a HUGE advantage.

Minny plays a sunday overtime game in nola. They travel home and get home at 10pm at the earliest and still "charged up".

Now they have to fly to west coast on thursday to play a saturday game

Meanwhile the niners had a week off to rest

I took niners -3.5 for the first half as i see the niners starting out very hot

Other side of the coin says "13 day break Rust Never Sleeps" Vikings firing on all cylinders vs Rusty Niners!

After their Bye Week this year they dismantled Cleveland 31-3 at Home on MNF. (14 days rest)

They also had a Thursday night game week 9, which was followed by a Monday night game week 10. They lost MNF 27-24 at Home to Seattle in OT. (10 days rest)

A good approach is an underdog, especially getting 7 points or more, that you think can run for >150 yards, you should take a serious look at that team.

So:

  • Minny + 7, can they run on SF? (maybe, Minny good running game vs excellent run stopping D)
  • Titans + 9.5, can they run on Balty? (maybe, Titans good running game vs excellent run stopping D)
  • Houston + 9.5, can they run on KC? (NO!)
  • Seattle, +3.5, can they run on GB? (probably not, Seattle running game is now poor, missing top 3 RB's)
Comments?

Minny is much better when they have all their guys healthy. Their A game is good. Will they play their A game back to back ? Certainly possible. San Fran seem fake to me. Tough to bluff in the playoffs.

Agree about Minny but I do not think SF is "fake".
Cook and Mattison were both running on fresh legs against the Saints, as were other players that rested the final game of the regular season. They dominated NO, more than the final score indicated. Well played, Minny coaches.
And Cousins is a good QB, much maligned, the constant narrative smearing him is brutal.

There are many assumptions made about rested teams, teams off OT game, teams on BTB road, etc.. that are not supported by facts.

Everyone was ready to fire Zimmer and bury Cousins a week ago. (Fire Zimmer and let Cousins go)

He has an "efficient game " ala Alex Smith and makes one great throw (and catch) in OT and suddenly they are going to win outright in SF?

I know why everyone is broke at the Sports broke ratings forum.

People always say a week off, but really from Sunday to Saturday it's actually 13 days. They have a "game off", but technically two weeks.

The whole team is back. Dee Ford opposite Bosa, starting safety Tartt (this has been a huge issue), and Kwon Alexander (incredible especially in passing downs).

Putting your money on Cousins? Good luck with that.

Cousins made me a ton last week.

If you think they won because of one good throw and QB efficiency I wouldn’t insult others.

SF doesn’t have the whole team back.

Minnesota is equipped to give SF all they can handle

Baronman,

I live here, I get as much SF and Oakland football info as anybody. I know all about who's in or out.

You still are without your center, and the guys you are getting back haven't played in weeks or months. You can't just assume guys out that long will just jump right in and play at at their standard level.

Wouldn't be surprised if at least one of the three don't make it through the entire game.

I was surprised how this west coast game is the early one while the Ravens play at 8pm.
