Most millennials have saved virtually nothing for a down payment on a home, according to a new study, suggesting many will face steep obstacles to homeownership in the years ahead.
Nearly 70% of young people ages 18 to 34 years old said they have saved less than $1,000 for a down payment, according to a survey by Apartment List, a rental listing company, expected to be released Friday. About 40% said they aren’t saving anything on a monthly basis.

You are seriously going to use the Wall Street Journal as a reliable source of information? The very fact that they're reporting it should tell us that the opposite is true. And anyone with working eyes, ears, and a brain can see for themselves that the economy is stronger than it ever has been and virtually everyone is better off than they ever have been. The only exception are brain-dead, treasonous liberals, who represent a very small minority of Americans. Trump has Made America Great Again

kinda consistent with a story fairly recently that said 60% of Americans don't have $ 500 saved.

That there represents your "average voter", these are the people responding to polls, these are the people politicians are talking to when they say "Trump should be impeached"

------------------------------------------------------------------

If you were suddenly hit with a $500 unexpected bill, would you be able to cover it?

If the answer is no, you're not alone.
Nearly six in 10 Americans don't have enough savings to cover a $500 or $1,000 unplanned expense, according to a new report from Bankrate.
Only 41% of adults reported having enough in their savings account to cover a surprise bill of this magnitude. A little more than 20% said they would put it on a credit card, the report said, while 20% would cut their spending and 11% would turn to friends and family for financial assistance.
"This is a persistent American problem of how you should handle your finances and spending," said Jill Cornfield, retirement analyst for Bankrate.

But at least the number has improved. Last year, only 37% of Americans reported having enough savings to cover an expense of $500 or more.

Nobody wants anyone to be more educated. If they had a better understanding of how screwed they were getting then they might start voting for free market/small government candidates.

Then the charade ends.

And that's not conspiratorial either, it's just a fact. Something like healthcare if you had a free market, a lot of profits would get competed away. Something like housing, if you had normalized interest rates, a lot of homes would get properly repriced. Immigration, if you had less of it, then there goes tons of cheap labor arbitraging. And that list goes on and on pretty far.

All of these things take $ out of peoples pockets.

Well, it's pretty simple then. Don't have a down for a conventional loan, no house.

They'll be fine - in 5 years Pelosi and Reid will cry foul that everyone needs to own a home and force banks to lend to a "diverse" pool - then when it unravels it will be Bush's fault

I keep waiting for that for that miraculous awakening, my optimism has taken a beating

So because both the Wall Street Journal and NBC report on something it must be true. The Fake News will spin anything to make our economy, our president, and our country look bad. Don't believe it.

If we take away corruption, voter fraud, and rigged elections, Republicans win a huge majority of American elections, by wide margins, at both local and national level. The average voter is far more intelligent than you're giving us credit for.

Oh no, the average voter is not very informed at all. The average voter is the reason we have the political enviroment wehave today. If the average voter wasn't so naive, both the press and the politicians would have to be more truthful. They're not truthful because they're enabled and rewarded by the average voter.

The average voter hates Congress, yet they send their representatives back to DC every election cycle.

Oh no, the average voter is not very informed at all.

Lets look at the facts, instead of what you read in the Wall Street Journal:

1. Every single informed voter voted for Trump
2. Every single vote for Hillary came from someone who had very low intelligence, a genetic disorder, or a mental illness
3. Not counting illegal votes, Trump won the election by many million. The biggest landslide since Reagan.

Those facts show that the average voter is in fact now making informed decisions. That was probably true in 2008 and 2012 when Obama only won because the election was rigged

The average voter is the reason we have the political enviroment wehave today.

I definitely agree with that, which is a big part of the reason why our political environment, along with America, is Great Again.

If the average voter wasn't so naive, both the press and the politicians would have to be more truthful. They're not truthful because they're enabled and rewarded by the average voter.

Again, lets look at the facts:
1. Very few people believe the press anymore
2. Media outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and CNN, are failing
2. The lying candidate lost, while the honest candidate won

The average voter hates Congress, yet they send their representatives back to DC every election cycle.

We hate some of them and we like some of them. But as the Swamp continues to Drain, we will begin to like more and more of them.

Its too bad. To be honest I think more needs to be done educating economics at earlier age.. There is lot of bullcrap taught and this area is ignored. Children should be taught about the real world. Yeah it should be taught at home but I think many of today's parents are ill equiped. Im 43 I was taught get an eduacation go to college etc and everything will work out. I made it when college wasnt soooo over oriced. Tuition where I went is now 6 x what it was and it's the same education, can't tell me the pay is 6x better. College kids are at a bigger diaadvantage than what they once were. Now I cant apeak much for.the rest of the millenials as they frustrate me frequently.

FWIW Tom (take it as you see it). The Wall Street Journal seems to score best as far as credibility followed by the Economist (which I would agree with) and the BBC (not feeling that one).
