Interesting first half for Bama, but they closed out the first half well. Up 11 at the break.

Tough loss for me on the totals play UW-Florida game yesterday, since this was the 1st time I tailed you on a play. I wish I would've tailed you on the others.

No biggie. It's a LONG season. :aktion033

I'm looking at the following 3 plays you have today that I am VERY interested in tailing you on.

Depaul, Purdue, Butler.

Which 2 of these 3 would you think have the best shot at covering ATS?

I can see you do a tremendous amount of capping, and your record bears this out! :toast:

Thanks for sharing your plays with me and everyone at the Rx!

Basket,

My apologies for the Flordia/Washington under. I didn't even come close. I felt bad about that one.

To answer your question, I think Butler and Purdue are slightly better plays than Depaul.

Let's start with Butler. I'm a big Northwestern fan, so I know that team as good or better than any other team. Butler was supposed to be a little down this year, losing 4 out of 5 starters. However, they have looked better than I expected early this season starting out 3-0 with nice wins against Ball State and @ Drake. Both teams are very young. In my opinion, this makes the fact that the game is being played @ Hinkle really important. Big home court advantage for Butler there.

Butler has played good defense this season. Let's face it, Freshman usually struggle against good defense. John Shurna, Kyle Rowley, Davide Curletti, and Luka Mirkoivc are all Freshman that NU is counting on this year.

One of the key's in this game is the play of NU SG Craig Moore. He went off in their last game against Brown. Going off memory I think he had 31 points and something like 8 3's (Most of them in the first half.) He has been hot-cold is whole career for Northwestern. He doesn't put the ball on the floor very well, but when he is shooting the ball well, he's tough to stop. The problem is, he's not always shooting the ball well. If he goes off again, I think this game is a toss up. However, I don't think he will go off 2 games in a row. He hasn't really done that historically throughout his career.

The other key, in my opinion, is the point guard play. NU has a good one, in Sophomore Juice Thompson. He's a Chicago kid that showed a lot of promise as a true freshman last year. Butler counters with a freshman, Ronald Nored. Nored is a intense defender and he has a reputation of playing very hard on every possession. I think he will keep Juice in check which will severly slow down their Princeton offense.

Butler has had a lot of time to prepare for this game. That doesn't bode well for the Wildcats. If the game was in Evanston it would probably be a no-play for me, but the fact that it is being played at Hinkle gives me a lot of confidence in the Bulldogs.

On to Purdue. I love Purdue this year. They have already made me some money this year. I plan on them making me more money throughout the season. They play tremendous defense. They're only giving up 50 ppg. I love that. They have won four straight games by 20+ points. They make teams work for every shot. Teams do not shoot the ball well against Purdue. If you don't score, you can't win.

BC lost on Saturday to Saint Louis. Not a very impressive performance from the Eagles. I love their point guard, but I don't think he is enough to cover this spread.

Purdue will get their points in this game. BC won't be able to generate enough offense, IMO. Purdue covers.

Might as well give my rationale for Depaul too. They are a team that I have seen a lot of living in Chicago. Quite frankly, they should win this game by 20+ points. The matchups favor Depaul. That's why I took them. They are just a much better team, plan and simple.

Why only 2 units? Because the Blue Demons are such a frustrating team. They are a very stupid team. Lots of bad shots, lots of lazy defense, lots of dumb fouls. On any given night, Jerry Wainwright's squad may put forth a lackluster effort.

That being said, if they play the way they should, they win easy.

Hope this helps.
